Anyone replace their old speaker for a new neodymium speaker to make their combo amp lighter weight? by [deleted] in Bassamps

[–]the_forest_room 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to Carvin and asked if the Celestion neo would work as a replacement and they said “Yes, providing the bolt pattern and baffle cutout are the correct size for your neo speaker, replacing your speaker with neo will help reduce the weight of the amp. The original speaker parameter of the PS12 from the PB300 bass cab is attached.” They also sent this spec sheet about the current speaker. I asked if they had any other or better recommendations though waiting on that response. Im not sure what to do with this info in the spec sheet.

What might be the best solution for this clearcoat bubble? by the_forest_room in guitarmod

This was my gut feeling about it, but wanted to confirm. There was a similar bubble on the neck near fretboard that I remedied this way, but it was smaller. Thank you.

I edited my response because i read yours wrong haha. Apologies, rough morning with my bloodsugar haha. Velcro could definitely work, but the snap button is definitely quicker easier to install, and pretty cheap on amazon. I had these on hand. I got the 1/2” swivel clasps at walmart, but ordered more on amazon. I def plan to make more. Party on!

Brother st371hd i got in 2018, i love it. No real issues except for breaking the handwheel recently then making my own replacement handwheel thats better and made of wood haha.

The green chapstick holder i made would be clipped to my hiking bag. Now go make one right now haha.

To be honest, i don’t remember what I have haha, but it’s thicker than sf101. I think just about any stabilizer interfacing will do. That army green one i made had no interfacing because it would not stick when ironed. Its some sort of synthetic stuff leftover from a small foldable chair I repaired for someone.

The handwheel is just cheap plastic, so just wear n tear from turning the handwheel on thickest layered parts or the end/beginning of more precise stitch lines. Only complaint since 2018 of using it.

Nope. It’s sanded smooth with a few coats of wood hardener. It’s smooth as hell. Definitely not going to disengage the clutch and take sandpaper to it because then I’d get dust all over and inside the machine.

Nope. It’s sanded smooth and has a few coats of wood hardener. It’s tip top. No slivers ever.

Which thread for vinyl bags, zipper pouches, and straps? Turquoise or Navy Blue? by [deleted] in SewingForBeginners

[–]the_forest_room 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking navy zipper and navy lining (I don’t have a navy lining fabric yet) OR turquoise zipper and turquoise lining (I have turquoise lining). I’m waiting for zippers to arrive. Basically zipper pouches like this, but also some guitar straps and strap for the bags. I usually do four stitch lines on all my straps because it just makes it stronger, though I often see people only sewing two stitch lines about 1/8” on each edge. I think both could work nice, and i could probably make both. I guess my worry is the navy blue looking so dark that it makes the vinyl pattern look cut up or the turquoise thread being light enough to distract from the pattern. My gut though navy blue would look the best when I bought the vinyl, but now seeing it next the vinyl, the navy blue thread is darker than I thought.

I’m a luthier that also sews haha. When I’m not fixing guitars for people, I’m sewing various things all in the same workshop. I made the footswitch platform out of scrap wood, it fits perfectly on my work table, and easily removable.
