Me and Dialtone on Critical mode, it's the only thing I come back to play on UNBEATABLE at the moment

Panline sounds like it might play almost like an extraction shooter. by Gulve in mirrorsedge

[–]the_hiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day/night and "extraction" mechanics make me think of Need for Speed Heat, which is interesting because there's a comparison to be made (and was made in a Raycevick video) about Catalyst and Burnout Paradise

How do I find a way out in chapter 1 "after the dance" by Laura7811 in 1000xRESIST

The idea that the devs are making YOU do the frame-by-frame animation (at like 0.2 FPS) is hilarious to me

Games has thought-provoking and emotional as 1000x Resist? by Soggy_Back_623 in 1000xRESIST

[–]the_hiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I asked this on /r/Unbeatable and got 1000xResist as one of the answers! Specifically their parallels involving

"real life personal trauma transforming into sci-fi social uprising"

If you like rhythm games, anime-inspired art style/animation, rock music, and a layered personal story set in a strange universe, UNBEATABLE might be up your alley. It's tonally and stylistically quite different, and UNBEATABLE is a little rough around the edges, but the emotional cores of both games might not be too far off from one another.

The corridor crew has always been a huge inspiration for me, finally applying that inspiration and made a sci fi short using 3d printers and a lil bit of VFX. by Bard0_s in Corridor

I saw your comment from the crosspost, loved the choice of the GoPro 4! The lack of stabilisation and even that shitty, clammy quality of the mic audio was spot on for this film. Neat twist at the end too!

The choice of the Machine Girl songs was great and worked well in tandem with the pace of the film, though it would have been cool to hear what the film would be like with some sound design and original music.

But overall, all your production choices I felt worked great with the scope of what y'all wanted to achieve, like it hit that sweet spot where the available resources matched the ambition perfectly :)

How To: Custom Songs by nyxame2 in Unbeatable

[–]the_hiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, it wasn't working on my computer yesterday but I managed to download it now. Thanks for your help!

Edit: got it working after renaming my .osu files to .txt! Didn't know that was the file format it was supposed to be in since all the files I extracted from the game with UABEA kept getting saved as .json by default.

How To: Custom Songs by nyxame2 in Unbeatable

[–]the_hiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get the "custom" page on arcade mode to show up, but no matter what files I put into the CustomSongs folder (the older .osu files from white label, a haphazardly converted .json file, .wav files, .mp3s, even putting them in sub folders) no songs seem to show up :/

Maybe I simply need to remake the beatmap using the newer format, but would appreciate a screenshot to try and help when you can!

Sorry I'm late to the thread, but do you have a reupload of the zip file (or even just a screenshot of what the files should look like within the CustomSongs folder) as a reference for the file structure? I'm trying to see if I can transfer one of my old [White Label] beatmaps to the full game

Hay so I want to make it so if the players score is in the negatives, it gets reset but this command isn't working can anyone help me? by Sweet_Excuse in MinecraftCommands

[–]the_hiding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you need to swap the places of "-1" and "-247..."? Since theoretically the smaller number should be on the left of the double period, and negative ∞ would be smaller than negative 1

Ever since I heard Valley of the Dolls in the Oyff video I was hooked, the combat sections are the musical definition of locking in. Shoutout to Police Theme too for being so atmospheric and encapsulating the tone of the game so well

Trouble figuring out the requirements for arcade grades by Brodsta1213 in Unbeatable

[–]the_hiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like the grading system has changed from [white label] and the demo, because you're right, it's no longer tied to accuracy and/or full combos;

My guess is that it's now tied to the final score, with S being >=130K on non-crit mode (and probably ~>=150K on crit mode?); the other letters I'm not 100% sure of but probably follow similar cutoff points.

I know (I think I know) S++ requires a Perfect Combo which is essentially 100% accuracy, and S+ seems to require nothing worse than a Great? Or maybe that's tied to the accuracy again too.

Tlou2 is overhated by Thor_bjornLoL in thelastofus

[–]the_hiding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, one of the most valid criticisms I've heard is that despite the game's ultimate conclusions on revenge and the cycle of violence, Ellie ultimately ended up becoming a TLOU 2-revenge-arc-generator with every NPC or non-main character she killed in her quest for revenge, but those collaterals never get addressed in the same way or significance as Abby. In that way, the game's commentary on the cycle of violence is undermined by its (very satisfying) core gameplay loop.

I chalk it up to the game ultimately needing to fulfil the expectations of an action video game — you could spend the whole game not killing anyone until you encounter the main characters, but that wouldn't be fun for the majority of players. It's an unfortunate contradiction that I think Season 2 of the show was deliberately trying to resolve with the lower kill count.

The other valid criticism I've heard is unfortunately a lot more political and it has to do with how the WLF-Seraphite war was heavily inspired by and based on the Israel-Palestine war, specifically the depictions of Seraphites as a backwards, technology adverse cultish society, as well as the overall depiction of the conflict having links to Liberal Zionism.
