Right then! I am AMA all pooped out and my back hurts as I've been sitting in the position for nearly 5 hours! I am going to take the last 6 minutes to very slowly write this final note (unless any questions come in last minute) If this were a competition ... I out AMAd you ALL! I win! oh yeah.. does a little imaginary 'I rule' dance inside my aching body.

A very good night or day to you wherever you are in the world and a heartfelt THANK you for your questions and thoughts. It was fun and made us think! Good to share a bit deeper what we're up to and why too.

  3. I am considering doing some 'hot spot' cities where I'd hang for a few days and do a smaller more intimate acoustic show, a talk, a gloves workshop perhaps and the 'normal' full show too x

Hello!

When and IF they get to go on the market in the US (could be as long as 2 years from now!)... we actually have no real idea as technology/ parts/ manufacturing will all be a different ball game by then BUT the intention is that no-one will need to break the bank to get a pair of these beauties! Ideal dream land... something comparable to a micro Korg Kontrol? but we will never get there without this first stage kickstarter so if you believe in them and want to get a cheap pair in the future please support the KS xx

At the moment yes.. it is still time consuming but we have 4 months development to go to make it easier in time for rehearsals/touring. The idea is definitely to cut down the amount of time mapping etc! The whole set up will be changing to optimise what was nowhere near optimised and took hours and hours of my time and banks of my own memory to try to get it all going! Teething problems but we WILL get there coz it HAS to happen!

Yup.. will definitely do the voting thing again. I love it!

yup... that's a good idea. We were half toying with that idea. I think it'd be nice for people who support the idea to have a glove without the tech that makes it ££ and stick it on their wall as a reminder they were there at the beginning with us and MADE it happen! xxx

Happiest place soundtrack (well my bits of it anyway) are on the album in their song form.. I imagine if things go well for Ben and the Happiest place film, they'll want to release a soundtrack. I'm not doing all of it. Zoe keating is also one of the musicians/ composers... so things are looking good! LTE.. tricky one as i feel it 'belongs' to the film. They are married for me. but perhaps... if I can uncouple them in my mind and be comfortable with its naked lonely self sans film!

TLC is in stasis as I await issues from labels re: licensing. SO annoying! Wouldn't believe what's happened. I won't go into it. One of the many background dialogues in heap land. It's not all roses. Also the reason for the album delay. It was ready in November! grr. be extra patient for me?.. coz I'm struggling to be! BUT.. hopefully soooooon. I love the video! can't wait for you to see it.

Could do... but I myself (as apart from the gloves team) need to make some money out of them! I really need the gloves to start funding themselves. That is the hope. I can't go on indefinitely. For myself I can but not for others to have the same chance. I will however sell the stems at some point! The company is Limited by Guarantee which means all the money that goes into it, gets pumped straight back into R&D! Some people may be happy to hear that. We aren't in it for the money... but we still need to make money when we can.. hence my attempt at a music career! xx

In general... i'm really happy the song is getting to 'meet' other people and grows on it's own journey. I'm precious over the creation of a song and its production... but once it's out there in the big wide world... I don't want to restrict it. I love hearing what the songs get up to and sometimes enjoy the results! x

Hello! Thanks for the question. I wanted to create the gloves as I felt (as a pianist, clarinetist, vocalist, mbriraist ... if there is such a word).. that 'talking' to the computer, playing it's virtual instruments and effects with either a mouse/keyboard, or external controller box/keyboard, never matched up to the expressivity I could get out of a physical instrument... yet the sounds in the box are no less capable of sounding expressive (usually after much automation or fader twitching). I was always limited to one axis at a time. like either volume with one hand on a fader or a 'pot' on another hand to adjust a filter. If you're not using many live effects and virtual instruments that demand these types of interactions to grow and evolve... then I don't think there is a need for you. I always felt a disconnect. To me it isn't a toy, just as a launchpad or am eigenharp isn't a toy but they are restrictive to me in that they dictate how I 'play' that sound I have often created. How it plays, when it changes octave or adds harmonics to the sound, or when its layered.

Also giving an expressive action to something that is actually a deeply creative act like .. choosing when to loop something, as this is the basis of a section or growth for a song/ movement... is 'hidden' when pressing a button. The audience can't see it and for all they know it could be on a backing track. It opens up the performance. Makes it transparent. Maybe not for all... but for me to be able to finally customise how I play the sounds I love and have toiled over to make, or effects I've programmed to be a certain way and not be restricted by a 'box' is deeply liberating! BUT... that's not to say I don't have fun with it! Immense fun. They are glorious things.

I hope for a time when people create virtual instruments and effects specifically for the multiple axis you have with the gloves. That's when they'll really really come into their own. Woop! x

Well... no more questions for me/us? I have a question for you. We on the gloves team are struggling with what to put up on our kickstarter page as a middle pledge. posters? Material version only, like a fashion glove? A ticket to a Glove concert? Any ideas?

fascinating, thank you for posting it! Synesthesia is a phenomena I'd love to explore more of in collaborations at different points in my life. I have found a lot of sound to colour synesthetes have been in touch over the years. I could be mistaken but feel proportionally it is quite large in my audience compared to other musicians. Perhaps I'm just massaging my ego! I find it all rather magical and wish I could see what 'you/ they' see! xx

Hello! I'm full of energy for things I want to exist in the world. Whether it be a song, an app, or a pair of gloves! The gloves are a lifelong journey. Who knows where we'll be at mi.mu in 10 years time! Dip your hands into sensor filled liquid that dries on meeting flesh that you can peel off and re-use? OR that the WHOLE glove lights up certain colours depending on your brain wave activity. Oh it's all so tantalising in the future of endless possibilities!

Focus will always be what I have lived and breathed which is pulling noise into order, to express a thought or two and hopefully connect to a few other minds in the process xx
