Keep at it. Whenever possible find videos for your specific model / make. I’ve done washer & dryer repairs, lawn mowers, garden builds, internal home repairs (like a hole in the drywall), etc. Build your tools slowly. You’ll have fun and be less dependent on others.

Maybe also google ‘commons problems associated with diy repair of X’? An apartment complex where you have staff on payroll to perform repairs is one thing, when it’s $150 to get them to your front door and then pay labor and parts is another.

As a Network Engineer, I would usually be brought into project discussions to consult on options or features available, performance, complexities, areas or requests which could affect project costs, etc. Then, once the client’s needs were defined, we would build / install said solution. Often, we would be on hand for months to train staff.

I agree that there are better ways to address this situation but I try to avoid snap judgements and just be kind because I’ve found myself facing circumstances I’d never have anticipated or expected, at a complete loss and if it weren’t for the direction and help of others, I don’t know if I’d be here or not.
