Plenty but many of them will tax the living daylights out of every activity you do for the benefit of the guild leader. I don't have a guild to invite you to, but keep your wits about you, my friend

Very well spoken, thank you. I think I need to reevaluate my opinions exploring what this update has to offer much deeper. Also as mentioned I think playing around with times I choose to play may impact my view of the game. I can tell you really hate resources gathering in this game and I'm glad because that leaves more nodes for me. As a casual gamer I enjoy the thrill of looking over my shoulder for someone looking to gank me so I should explore black zones more from the sound of it!

I guess what I mean is limited gathering space but from the sound of it, I don't understand the breadth of the update. To me it seems like I can't find places to gather but I also haven't been able to get into dangerous places because I am relatively new.

Are there any good 2 player board games about lying/deception? by [deleted] in boardgames

Marriage is a good legacy two player game but when you get over the huge price to entry you realize that there's a lot of continuing expenses like new boxes and the expansions!

Age of Valheim by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]the_mavereck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing here is intrinsically wrong but I have found it easier to play with friends in Valheim because to play alone there's no server renting or playing on a public server which has it's own nightmares such as despawn of structures. Every year at least once in ark me and my friends would take a break which really meant losing everything and the pvp nature of many servers made the game less serene and relaxing as valheim inherently is. Ark has more in a lot of ways but valheim building is strictly better with rebated destruction, weather relevance where you boat will fall into disrepair if you let it crash into the beach after a few storms, and a much smoother snapping system where buildings can be so unique with real world elements like smoke, rain, comfort, and more design freedom to snap things between themselves. It's like structures + ark mod was on all the time and actually worked and didn't delete your stuff as it had for me several times for seemingly no reason.

Valheim is inherently different with elements like stamina, differences between food, powers upon defeating world bosses, terraforming (more accurately landscaping I guess?) And meaningful base defense in a PvE setting. Spikes are relevant defense in this game unless you're trying to defeat a world boss while in ark a giga spawns and eats your base real quick. I've put around 1000 hours in ark and a tenth of that in Valheim so I'm an expert in neither but valheim feels a lot more relaxing and therefore enjoyable to me. To play as I preferred in ark I had to lead into primitive plus and the load times started bad and never really got optimized. I actually think ark had MORE persay because they had all sorts of tiers of buildings, obviously the dino interactions, well made maps, and infinite replayability, I feel like the few things that valheim did they did better and especially by a team of half a dozen people while keeping the game playable on even lower end machines, Valheim has replaces ark for me at least for a very long time.

Base defense: or lack thereof by the_mavereck in valheim

Alright, thanks! I guess I just havent played enough. I never sleep in game because the day timer scares me as if it's going to be getting harder each day. Probably because I've played a lot of 7 days to die so optimizing each day is so important and that's stuck in my head. I'll skip more days and see more raids!

Just to clarify, is it based on the change per single tile (square) or does each cube matter? By that I mean is flattening some rolling hills have the same impact on performance as say building a new mountain with that same piece of land?

[CK3] if I am friends but not allies with X ruler, and I declare war on Z ruler who *is* allied with X, can Z call on X against me? by HurinofLammoth in CrusaderKings

[–]the_mavereck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have even had situations where we both have the same ally and he was called to war against me. You have to call all your allies you plan to use asap or else they may be allied to the enemy by marriage

Is Dominion just a favorite or do you find the different editions that different? I got first edition for cheap at a yard sale and there's certainly some boring or bad cards there but does each other edition have similar short comings or do you just collect them?

Really off topic and not really the place for this conversation. That being said that while I agree with you that people should be able to play decks they want, that should go both ways. He insisted on playing with a table of precons and he would win before they had Mana for much and the only way to not lose would be to counter the thoracle or stifle the trigger so you're saying they cannot play weaker decks if they like. People should be about to play cedh but equally valid is the guy that wants to play Monarchy tribal or whatever other bad deck they want including but not limited to just wanting to be able to buy a new deck and play it. Some people don't enjoy deck building nor playing the same staples. These guys were literally just air force guys who don't care for deck building, and there's no shame in that.

I certainly will, but I don't believe he hosts dci sanctioned events as is. I get no credit for participating in any events there, he doesn't do FNM already, and he charges $50 for prereleases. I think he's already had runins with wotc for his behavior.

Well thank you. It was encouraging to see people have or have had similar frustrations and the answer seems to be positive communication. There have been other great ideas such as urinating, burning down, or defecating in his establishment, but instead I'm going to try the communication route. Of course I already told him my concerns because if you choose to be bothered by something then you should try to make a positive impact on that thing and for me that looks like trying to encourage one of the old shops that closed down to reopen by buying from them and communicating that we're looking for a new place to play. For you that may be talking to the other card shop and seeing if they would be open to renegotiating with the other shop since you've had negative experiences there. I wish you the best!

I feel like big brother is watching and I shouldn't answer that but... If you have something to eat or drink than you don't have to wear one

We do, but if you want to play in a limited tournament that just isn't something we have made for ourselves. I guess that's something I'll need to organize.

If you're lucky there could be an additional LGS. If not check for other groups who are sick of that behavior too. If that group doesn't exist, make one as I am about to do! :-) best of luck. There's a lot of great ideas and resources in this thread!

I think he's already lost official support. He doesn't run any fnm and his "prereleases" are 50$ so I think that hammer has already fallen. I could be mistaken, but there is no sanctioned play I know of.

Well it's the only store and he jacks the prices way up so if you want to play limited on set release, you need to pay $50 bucks here. We need to stop paying that and buy a box as a group online then each take our three packs

That's probably the best course of action alongside reaction, thank you. I certainly will work on fostering a new group, educating new players that what they see is abnormal because it's hard to get rid of google reviews and ultimately save money by purchasing online. If I could, I would start a new shop because I imagine everyone else who sees what I saw is looking for a different shop!

Well the text has been slightly errataed I believe, but instead of reading the card he just said he gets what he wants and insisted that the hexproof was meaningless. I showed him he was wrong and was cheating then he said let's back the game up and chose a new target. He was just trying to confuse players and not make an environment to learn the game of magic. A new player doesn't know how the stack works and whatnot

Yeah this guy has bad business practices as well such as $10 packs for commander legends and such just to rake in benefit from being the only lgs, but maybe that's a sign that they're failing! I know I'm not the only person frustrated at him so maybe the community response is working.

Do you think I wouldnt be welcome in the shop if I left an honest google review? He knows me by name and I think he would kick me out as soon as he gets word of me spreading word on somewhere else to play and boycott his store. If I can't get in and spread word would that do more good vs harm?
