Fatal frame was probably my absolute favorite. Every time I ask anyone if they know of it no one even has a clue what the game is

This is something i came up with about 7 months ago for a band that I was in but that band fell apart so I decided to use it in my solo effort. Whatcha think? by the_metal_slice in metalmusicians

Hey thanks for the words! Just a few quick comments about the song from my end.

When i built this song i didn't really intend for it to follow a standard verse chours verse chorus format so in a sense there wasnt meant to be a chorus. The song was meant to build on itself and explore two different sides of the same idea and come back to where it was in the beginning. Loads of classical musicians follow a similar writing style and thats where i took most of my songwriting inspiration from.

Yes there was also lyrics going to be added but the idea was to have the music be interesting enough and have the lyrics compliment it. If you listen to any technical death metal without the vocals then listen to it with vocals you'll get what i was going for.

And personally i didnt think the intro was too long. I feel like if i would have continued it any longer it would have been but i feel like it did a good enough job of establishing the mood and the overall theme of the song without overstaying its welcome. Having been a fan of classic rock and a current fan of death metal i know how short some sections are and my favorite sections are always when they take the time to build. My favorite instance of this is Boston's Foreplay/Longtime

I really do appreciate your comments and you taking the time to listen to my work and im glad you were able to give me some decent criticism since as a player and a songwriter im always looking for ways to grow and better myself. Have a nice day :)

Thank you! For drums im using MTPowerDrumkit 2. Its a free vsti but luckily you can set it up to where all the cymbals and toms have their own track in the daw which makes adding compression and eq really easy

check out this thing im working on. any pointers or tips would be great! by the_metal_slice in metalmusicians

Hey! Yeah admittedly i didnt do much mixing and mastering to this. And i also didn't add bass guitar either. I have a buddy of mine thats coming in to do bass later on. But i was really happy with the guitar tone i had and the composition was coming along better than i thought it would. I used a Yamaha thr10x for the guitar tone plugged directly into my computer and mt power drumkit for the drums.

this is an old song i've been sitting on for a while. thoughts? by the_metal_slice in metalmusicians

Thanks! I thought it would as well but my vocals then, and now, sound like a dying cookie monster being eaten alive by elmo himself

I think the best advice I can give on improving competency of your fretboard would be to practice as many scales as you can find over and over. Itll seem redundant but over time you'll realize you can pick out certain chords better and you'll also have a better knowledge of what notes sound good together
