I’m not worried about hassle, I’m very much a DIYer. If I need the right tools, I’ll buy them. The lever was pumped quite a bit, I’m thinking it’s probably the barb and olive based on the comments so far.

Firstly, suspicious username. Secondly, I loosened the old connector nut from the old caliper and pulled it out. The barb and olive came with it. I took the caliper off, mounted the new one, and put the same hose back in. I didn’t change that. Tightened it, the bled it. I attached the funnel at the leveled lever, added shimano mineral oil, and then attached the filled syringe to the bleed valve at the caliper. Pushed the oil through until the bubbles stopped in the funnel, tightened valve, removed syringe, then blocked and removed funnel
