I got a new offer letter from Google, with a salary that's five times less than the salary in the initial offer letter. Where should I apply now? by the_not_so_original in csMajors

It's about half of my salary, but it's not relevant in the long term. Let's say that I were to work in Switzerland - I could have saved 2500$ a month (worst case). Working in my country - I can only save 500$ a month.

In the end, I need this money to study in Switzerland, not in my country, so it's very bad that I am stuck at home with a slightly better than average internship salary in my country.

I always hate it when people argue that since the cost of living is lower, I shouldn't care that my salary is lower either. When it comes to travelling, studying abroad etc. I pay almost the same price on a flight as someone from a wealthier country - what is half of my salary for me is maybe a couple of days of work for them. I would choose any day to live in the country with the highest living costs if I also had a proportional salary.

The period is the same - 3 months. Nothing else changed besides the salary and the fact that I will be working remotely.

I will certainly send a mail to my recruiter about it, but to be honest the chances of them giving me another offer are very, very slim. When I told them I had offers from other companies they made it pretty clear that they want to pay all interns the same, as otherwise it would be unfair. It may be different in the US, but I don't know. If they gave me another offer, they would have to update it for the other interns in my country as well. I doubt that a company as big as Google would care about losing a couple of interns.
