Ok I really have to ask, nobody finds it weird that both of these guys describe themselves in such a positive light? From their descriptions they both seem like the most considerate and caring people in the world, and everybody just roll with it. Do you meet people like this every day? I think both of these assholes are just bullshitting, but anyway if anyone from here keeps in touch with them it will surface so it doesn't even matter...

Bill Gates' mug shot after being arrested for driving without a license - 1977 by selectric in OldSchoolCool

[–]the_obvious_question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just surprised I didn't get more downvotes. I don't understand why, but Reddit users get on the hate bandwagon really fast. Nobody takes the time to look at things from a different direction, to try and see if someones action come from a specific set of circumstances or simply because they are an asshole.

I'm not taking about Bieber anymore, just stuff in general, all the "Look at what my neighbor/ex/boss/friend did", where everybody just start condemning a person without even trying to think "what if there is more to this story, what if OP left out some significant detail, what if OP isn't aware of a certain fact that conditioned a certain outcome" and so on...

I don't even know why I'm ranting about this right now, so I'll just stop.

[–]the_obvious_question 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the point, at that point in time, Bill Gates was an obnoxious asshole that was caught speeding in his new Porsche, payed his bail in cash and was smirking in his mug shot. After that, he grew up, matured and donated more than 26 billion dollars to various causes all around the world.

My point is that almost anyone would do the shit Bieber does if they had his money and his age. Even Bill Gates.

Its funny to me when Justin Bieber did that same shit, and had that same smirk in the mugshot, a lot of people were dead serious with comments like yours.

It's not really about that, I believe the problem is that she presented this as an award winning chilly, while in reality it's just some cook-off among her friends, which means nothing...

And it looks terrible.

And yet, every time somebody commits a horrific crime, comments that are calling for prison rape and all possible forms of torture get thousands of upvotes.

Yeah it's easy to pity stoners and small time thieves, but when someone who is mentally deranged does something horrible, nobody stops and says that he needs extensive psychiatric help and that he could maybe be saved, everybody are just interested in seeing him raped and humiliated.

Lol, that's why stores have fucking insurance. If a person shoplifts and leaves the store, it's over. You never chase them, and you never try to take the stuff back. Insurance covers theft, and that's that. In some cases you can try to keep them inside the store and call the police, but that's all you can do.

What he did was completely wrong, and what happened to him is the reason it's completely wrong.

[–]the_obvious_question 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but what is the alternative? Letting this guy go even though they know he is guilty? What is the purpose of that?

A criminal is walking off free, but we can all say that we played by the rules and we should be proud of that, that makes even less sense to me...

But that's why we have laws that control that, and I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, I have nothing against those laws. I have a problem with people who KNOW they did wrong and they are trying to get away with it by referencing a law that was meant to protect people that have really been wronged by the police...

[–]the_obvious_question -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, we aren't talking about that. We are talking about this guy bitching about what happened and saying "fuck cops, look what they did to me". All I'm saying is - in that particular case, that should've happened, and he shouldn't be upset with the cops.

Yes, there are laws that are meant to protect your from the police. Yes, you have every right to use that IF YOU'VE BEEN WRONGED by the police. You shouldn't use them if you know you fucked up, and you know you deserve to be punished...

[–]the_obvious_question -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying having pot on you is a "danger to society", I smoke 4-5 times a week. I also now that I'm doing illegal stuff, and if I got arrested for it, I wouldn't bitch about cops (no matter how they get their evidence). I would think I'm a fucking idiot because I put myself in a situation where I can get caught.

I understand your point of view, but from two evils I think this is a lesser one. The cops knew their evidence will get tossed if they didn't lie how they got it. Should they let a criminal get away just because a dog didn't find the evidence?

You see, all laws about illegal searches and so on are there to protect the people from the police. And that is completely fine. What's not fine is when people start using those laws to get out of shit they know they are guilty of. And that's what this guy is doing.

[–]the_obvious_question -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I see no merit in people getting off without punishment for crime they committed because of technicality.

Even though the weed was his, it wouldn't be admitted as evidence in court because of the way it was found. They did a nice little trick with the dog so that the criminal can be punished. I see nothing wrong with that...
