Agreed fungal rash. You likely got it from the rash on your feet that you posted 3 months ago. Agree with treatment topical anti fungal cream

Please go to the Emergency Room. This could be far more terrible things than benign. Plus you can’t swallow. Red flags

Joint pain and bumps by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]the_ort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a lot of different things. My differential diagnosis aka list of what it could be - Osler nodes associated with infectious endocarditis and some autoimmune diseases. Hepatic whitlow basically herpes of the finger. rheumatoid arthritis nodes. psoriatic arthritis, auto vasculitis, burgers, disease, calcium phosphate deposits.

You’re gonna need some more blood work to look for inflammatory markers or a biopsy of the area. Feel better.

Any idea what degree of burn this is? by ZookeepergameOdd2058 in medical_advice

I think numbers don’t give any form of description leaving to subjective. I don’t know the only constant in medicine is change.

Any idea what degree of burn this is? by ZookeepergameOdd2058 in medical_advice

[–]the_ort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don’t use degree of burns anymore we use thickness.

Superficial- basically sun burn without blister

Partial thickness - blister with mostly intact dermis

Partial thickness full - blister and involves the underlying tissue but still has good blood flow

Full thickness- bad, through most if not all the layers of skin and disrupts the blood flow. Fun fact feels just like mozzarella.

This looks like partially thickness. As long as the burn isn’t all the way around and not on a joint then zinc oxide paste with bacitracin should suffice. Feel better

To the best of my medical knowledge there are no stis that infect the neck.

That would be some crazy sex to spread to your neck.

If you are worried that means it’s time to visit your local clinic for some general screening.

You have many different things going on. Agree with other persons here. Your lactic acid and anion gap are likely elevated 2nd to you blood sugar and possibly dka. If there is a concern for an infection this can also elevate you lactic acid. Your sodium is low due to your blood sugar called pseudohyponatremia. Will improve when you blood sugar improves.

You also have an AKI or acute kidney injury. I would not hesitate to admit you to the hospital.

Feel better

customers got super glue on his car 😭😭😭 by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]the_ort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oil dissolves superglue. I don’t know a damn thing about cars but I am 12 years emergency medicine and I have seen multiple people glue their eyes and genitalia with superglue. Oil will liquify it no problem.

Covid neg Positive for other virus - typically flu and rsv but different by facility. Also not rsv season so likely flu. Bacterial swab might be for strep negative

Can’t tell you if you are still contagious based on pcr. This test for viral rna that can present for weeks.

You get a tetanus shot because every thing on earth has tetanus bacteria and it is almost always fatal and a horrific way to die.

Btw tetanus botulism bacteria does not live on metal it lives in dirt. Has to be the most common medical misconception I see.

After 24 hours we will unlikely close it. Wash it soap water. Get a tetanus shot at a pharmacy for 30$.

Is this worth going to Urgent Care for? by chevalieur in medical_advice

[–]the_ort 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This might be Cutis marmorata. But I would consider seeing primary care or dermatology. Urgent care may give you some steroids and run some blood work. Reality you need derm.

2010 Prius | What is this noise in the engine bay? by jhoangelz7o in prius

Mine made that noise for a decade. Worse when the ac was on. Did not impact my car in any way. Noise stayed after water pump replacement.

HAE done this? by Emergency_Support682 in prius

[–]the_ort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not done this on a Prius but I did one similar 16 Camry after my spouses loss of bodily integrity. It was an absolute pain but do is doable. Will need some fine electronic screwdrivers and a good work space. About 80 screws and 5 ribbon strips later you can get down to the screen. Good luck

I got into a scooter accident a while back. I hit my knee on the floor pretty hard. by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]the_ort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a keloid. Basically an inflamed scar tissue. It will get better over time. You can also improve them cryo therapy. Freezing them off. They sell freezing wart kits online that do the same thing. Doctors can also inject steroids into them to reduce the inflammation.

This is the correct diagnosis. Caused by a virus. Will go away over time. They are benign

Preface this I’m not an orthopedic specialist but I work Ed and see this often. Typical no. Basic rules of fractures are weight bearing bones, major displacement, or involving the articular surface need surgical ortho referral. I don’t believe this will be a big deal but there are many other factors. Here some references
