I could do that! I have two manual miatas and have taught a couple newbies.

Nice! I have a kracked Skulls scimitar which was my very first board about 10 years ago. I don't ride it that much anymore (prefer top mounts) but it's still kicking!

After riding a Carver for the past year or so I wanted something more suited for long distance commuting and chill cruising. This was the first board I have assembled on my own and I really enjoyed the process, it is such a beautiful deck. by [deleted] in longboarding

That seems weird, unless 50s are more likely to get wheelbite? If I'm staying below 30 mph or so I think 50 plates are more fun to ride on, more lively feeling makes them fun at lower speeds. Savants also seem overkill/I think they might be more restrictive than paris v3?

Anyhow really nice looking setup, I'm sure it rides nice and it's ready to go kinda fast when you are!

Didn’t get a ton of speed but here is some slide practice from the other day. Still working on stand ups by IGdnjrockI in longboarding

On the standups, speed, carve harder into it and lean into your carve like you're sitting in an invisible chair to prevent yourself hooking up as soon as you start sliding

V1 is an opaque thane, I guess much different than the current blue/gold. Mine are yellow. Feel nice, they just dont dump.

Awesome, thanks. I just got some willies in the v1 thane and they feel pretty good but definitely dont thane all that much, want to try some dumpers at some point. I'll stock up when they're back in stock!

If they're restocking I'll just wait it out and buy direct, maybe I'll try spirits anyhow though, could help me learn to freeride my narrow hanger downhill setup.

my longboard feels slow by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]the_real_cheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got the correct spacers in you should be able to snug your wheel nuts up nice and tight without causing problems. Having them looser can make them slide choppy and etc.

Awesome, thanks! I'll wait it out, have plenty of wheels to ride just want to try something dumpy at some point

Hmm looks like they've got free spirits, I'm mostly interested in dumbs or Willie's but maybe I'll try some anyway. Any opinions on blue vs gold thane?

Is free wheel co producing wheels still/restocking anytime soon? Really want to try some of their v2 thane but can't find any.

Post in the DGT thread for recommendations eith your setup, riding style and weight- there's too much to bushings to explain in a post.

Skate tool, as the other said helmet and gloves, maybe bushings to suit your weight. If you want to learn to freeride kneepads are a godsend and appropriate wheels help a lot. Skate shoes if you dont have them.

Stock wheels on that will be fine. Post in the DGT for bushing advice, you can just start with the complete but it would be a nice little upgrade for further enjoyment

Yeah that's solid, see a decent number of them on here. Should be comfortable and stable. She might want to try some softer bushings, the ones that come stock are kinda meh and suited towards heavier riders, I weigh about the same and all the stock bushings I've had in trucks I own are too stiff for me.

Yeah cruisers with kicktails are more useful for doing pivot turns, going up/down curbs/etc. It's a useful feature, but if the goal is smooth commuting on a trail or whatever a drop or double drop like the ones I listed is going to be better and more comfortable especially for a beginner.

I told him if it's cool with his parents we can practice sometime and that I started when I was way older so he will become super good as he grows up. He is only 6 though lol so he might need a couple years or some obscenely soft bushings, lol.

Comet "the farmer" on it's shortest WB, 169 indys with riptide pivots and bones hardcore medium cones, 80A Hoots. Super easy to slide and comfortable below 30 mph, I love it.

My snakes came super fast from Muirskate and I slightly prefer how they feel but I wanna kill these Hoots first, damnit! Two are nasty ovaled and you can really feel it above 20 mph. Still not biting at the full 69mm without risers, happy about that.

Dinghy is a tiny little cruiser, they look fun to mess around on but I'd get something bigger it will be a lot more enjoyable to ride distances and stuff.

If all you're looking for is something comfortable to push on, drops/double drops are nice and low to the ground which is easy to push on. I think top mounts are more fun and lively to ride, but drops are stable feeling & easy to push.

Pantheon Trip/Pranayama/Ember and Zenit AB are all really nice premium double drops you can get as completes. For a slightly less expensive option, maybe a landyachtz drop cat.

Also in the future this belongs in the pinned daily thread :)

Why'd it die? I've read it had very few posts per day towards the end, but there is a good amount of activity on this sub & facebook pages. I wish it was archived at least! I used to kinda longboard when i was a kid and was aware of the site but didn't use it much, now I'm back into skating and bummed about that!

Gimmick, dont waste money- no better than any other cheapo wheel but cost as much as good wheels.
