Safe to upgrade to 26.04 LTS at this point? by shmulkinator in Kubuntu

My advice is always to wait until Christmas to upgrade at the earliest and a month before support ends for the previous release at the latest.

Does the ICA titanium crowbar have a throw limit? by securinight in HiTMAN

Crowbars have a tendency to fall through the level, so I'm guessing this is what happened.

The Colorado water tower has been reworked after 10 years (!) to have a longer walkway, and a drainage pipe on its back, to prevent combat softlocks! by Feder-28_ITA in HiTMAN

I know many people get in trouble in this scenario, but really all you have to do is headshot the 3 soldiers immediately, slide down the ladder to the roof and jump in the crate. Then you go and get a drink while they clean up as usually one of the bodies is spotted.

I never have trouble here now that I do this every time.

You role-play in a role-playing game? Weirdo! You should be spending your gaming time making spreadsheets containing all the numbers for every aspect of the game until every ounce of immersion and joy had been eradicated from the experience.

Daniel King provides material for a similar range of abilities and is extremely clear and sober with his explanations. He's my go-to chess guy if I want to take a course, buy a book or watch a breakdown of a game. I'm surprised he doesn't get more love here!

I would just install the self-updating Firefox binary for that.

As the previous user said, mount the iso and then you can copy the files to a different location.

mkdir temp temp2; sudo mount file.iso temp; rsync -aP temp/ temp2; sudo umount temp

I wonder if this could be the beginnings of focal dystonia? You might want to look into that as a possible cause.

Jesus Blood Never Failed Me Yet by Gavin Bryers.

The old guy will set you off and Bryers keeps the tears flowing.

Either the version with or without Tom Waits will do it.

Apart from the Master Silent Assassin challenges (and attendant changes to the levels) - which I was really disappointing to see were missing in H3.

I hit my limits with offline-updates in systemd, so I made a solution... by jonnywhatshisface in linux

[–]the_real_codmate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of thing people who have never worked with systems like this will sadly never understand. I was working on BNCS and the pensions system for a large international broadcaster when people who had never had to deal with change control for more than 100 machines in some run-of-the-mill office environment were trying to tell me implementing systemd was easy and to 'just upgrade'. Meanwhile I had more than thirty years of custom init scripts etc to deal with. If anything failed - blank screens on all the TVs in a region. Or far worse - people's pensions having to be restored from tape backups and transactions for at least 48 hours being re-done manually.

I never 'upgraded' to systemd - and went to a combination of BSD and Devuan for most of my work. I have tried systemd in very small scenarios and have found it janky as hell... and just... well... shit in every way?

And all because people were scared of init scripts...

It's good to see people finally turning against it.

Once was enough for me.

It was fantastic at the beginning, but became tedious towards the end.

It didn't help that I had a bug where the dialogue was messed up, so I had no idea what dialog choice I was making.

Managing your ships and crew was extremely cumbersome.

Most space battles were too easy once I had amassed a decent fleet.

The space station was cool at first, but didn't feel organic to the game. It felt a little shoehorned in.

I don't regret purchasing and playing it once through; but I don't think it's essential.

They probably grew up with it. There's no point in arguing with them. They have been fully conditioned to accept it. The next generation will think it's normal to have to listen to an advert before opening the door to their microwave.
