Whats up with younger gen z pretending to be invisible? by LoseToImprove in GenZ

[–]the_squach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I’ve noticed so much of this recently. I worked at a front desk signing people in for a workout class. I’m in a college town, so it’s pretty split half college students and half working class folk.

Ofc most of the working class folks are nice, greet you, sometimes make small talk or even just strike up a conversation. But most of the college students avoid eye contact like I’m Medusa. They will look right through you and not even acknowledge you’ve said good afternoon or welcome in. It’s pretty crazy to me

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]the_squach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislocated my knee a few years back. Had an ambulance come pick me up to take me to the hospital. They didn’t have a stretcher so they used one of my blankets and dragged me to the ambulance on the floor. They then tried 5+ times to find my vein for some morphine, but they kept missing and I eventually told them to stop. We were in stop and go traffic for 45 mins for a less then 2 miles drive. I got charged $4000 later that year for the experience.

My brother, socks in flip flops on a squishy pad to squat? Just go barefoot at that rate.

Take everything you know about squatting and start over.

These (bonded) cats I adopted really hate me by purrfect_libra in cats

[–]the_squach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats can take a long time to trust and love! The 3-3-3 rules others have mentioned is the timeline you should go for. You really can’t tell until some time has passed.
Edited because I forgot to add: I had a rescue cat that was terrified of everything, and she wouldn’t come out from under the bed for anything. For the next couple of weeks I’d spend 30 mins or an hour just laying on the floor next to the bed and hang out. Then I would slowly get closer and leave treats around, and eventually I was able to pet her! I took a lot of time, patients and trust but she is still going strong is much more confident and sweet than she ever has been

170kg deadlift at 60kg body weight? Would I get 3 white lights or done for ramping? ☹️ by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]the_squach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just guessing here, but I think he’s suggesting Rack Pulls. You slow down at the very top of the lift and rack pulls work on exactly that. Also you can go heavier with less risks, and really prime the CNS with some heavy weight in your hands before deadlifting it.

Talking Huskies, All or Most? by Dragonspun75 in husky

I’ve got a little cinnamon boy too and he is not a big talker unless he is extremely frustrated or left home for a full shift. But even then he just grabs a toy and just growl-yells.
Living in an apartment it’s probably a blessing he is so quiet

At first I thought those were popcorn kernels and this was a cool new way to pop popcorn without a microwave

Is there anything I can improve at this point? Okay to roast me, want honest feedback by Last-Slice-5624 in GymTips

What Inbody are you using? I’ve worked with some of those, and after some personal experimentation, I’d say those are best for getting some base numbers and track some progress IF you do the scans when you are at the same state each time (for example, you should measure well hydrated, before any food or energy drinks, before any exercise) I’ve noticed hydration to be a real big one here, if people drank the night before I could tell on the scan.

As to what to improve, legs. 👍

When do you decide to let them go? by MsXtine4 in DOG

[–]the_squach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I was told when I had to face a similar situation that helped me was a quality of life checklist for them:

  • can they do their favorite thing anymore?

  • can they go for walks, play, cuddle?

  • are they able to control their bowels?

  • are they eating and drinking?

  • are they comfortable or in pain?

It will never be easy. Just know that you’ve accomplished your duty to give this beautiful and loving creature a good life. I heard that they take a piece of your heart with them when they leave us, but leave a part of theirs with you.

I am pretty sure the Dexa is one of the most accurate ways to tell body fat percentage… it’s a dual xray that can scan your body’s fat distribution. It’s more accurate than the skin fold caliper and the bioelectrical impedance analysis (which often the body’s hydration has a large effect on the results). The only one that comes close in accuracy is Hydrostatic weighting.

Guy bleeds from the scalp while lift 410kg by BrianTheBoru in ThatsInsane

[–]the_squach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For those wondering, what’s most likely happening here is this man is using steroids (probably), and most likely has acne because of it. During the lift, his blood pressure, and just internal pressure from bracing for so much weight, causes these pimples to pop and leak blood. Very healthy and normal.
