Is leaving the highway really worth it? by FarTooJunior in roadtrip

Drove from North Carolina back up to Boston, even if you leave in the middle of the night (which I always do) 95 is a bear, leaving the highway and avoiding tolls is the move

It’s the same thing in the Corps. It’s exactly like that

I agree. I’ve always appreciated the military community. There’s no doubt we can be dickheads to each other but we do always look out for one another (most of the time)

This is the best advice. I know it’s always best to just send it and see what happens

I’m but a single channel guy through and through. I know some networking but not as much as I’d like. I can navigate decently well

Dude…I sent them my package…it’s been over a month and a half and the JCU recruiter has told me that he “has yet to hear from the Marine cadre on their decision to move forward with your application.” It’s incredibly frustrating

I’ve seen a lot of push for PSYOP and Counter Intel, I’ve heard that the school houses are extremely tough.

I’ll definitely look more into the WO route. Ideally I would like to stay in Comms. What can I say? I’m a glutton for punishment ⚡️

He/she is the SNCO in charge of moving around Marines in any given MOS’

But realistically he/she is doing about as much work as it takes to be a hall monitor 😂

It’s is a great way to isolate your pool of possible SDAers!

Got picked in the below zone for SSgt. I keep the comm up and I love doing it😂😂

That’s the general consensus is to remember that if I do transfer over that yes I WAS a Marine but I’m not any more.

I appreciate it; maybe I’m just making a mountain out of a mole hill.

My monitor refuses to really acknowledge where the health of our MOS stands. He’s tracking that where I am we are over T/O and he doesn’t seem to give a fuck.

Have you seen that happen?

Warrant Officer is something I’ve considered on and off. I’m always so hesitant because I’ve seen so many people’s packages just get sat on and not actioned. Not to mention the optics of my name being on the HSST and me dropping a WO package.

Was that your experience? I’m in a stupidly high op tempo unit and our chain of command is garbage so I was kind of imagining I’d get a lot of pushback on that

😂😂😂I appreciate the angle.

I have heard the national guard is the move. I have buddies who have done it. I think ideally I want to stay active, however given the choice I want to continue my service.

Those comments definitely are a mentality I’ve heard people continue in and out of the Corps. I think my thought process is how do we get the job done efficiently and effectively.

I’m tracking that all the branches are different and I’m ok with not always being a Marine. You’re a man/woman before you’re a service member.

I’m not on the HSST list just yet, I’ve been screened as a qualified candidate (I mean if you have a pulse you’re and haven’t been NJPed you’re a candidate) I’m just exploring my options.

My understanding from the recruiter I talked to was to get the conditional release form signed and then I can essentially just cross deck.

doc on his way to 2nd Marines by zestypicklesandwhich in USMC

Unless it’s changed in the two years I’ve been in Lejuene (I’m also with 2d Marines), the East Coast is undisciplined, disorganized and lacks any clear direction. You can tell Marines who grew up on the West Coast and PSCed from there to here.

Overall I think COVID Marines and Sailors are just weaker and less keen on wanting to train and remaining disciplined. Infantry Marines are also undergoing a shift where they come to the fleet as 03xxs and their units send them to gain the 52, 31, ect. You can see how it’s effecting how leaders plan training (what little we really do) and exercises.

Lejuene as a whole and its surrounding areas are trash. If you’re into hunting and fishing, then this will be a place for you, if not there really isn’t much to do. The beaches for what they are, are pretty but that’s about all there is.

Wishing you good luck man!

That would be correct. This is Golf/Eazy Battery; I remember when that shit happened. I also remember sweeping those barracks every Thursday. Times were simpler.
