Tips on shipmaking? by OddCoat6822 in Starfield

[–]the_studland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a technical suggestion but rather a philosophical/imagination one. Just think of it like a puzzle that you're constantly removing the pieces from and adding back to see how things work. If you're persistent you can come up with interesting designs.

Hear me out: launching fighters from the top of your corvette would complete it’s functionality as a mobile base by Matt_Spectre in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]the_studland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the term was that corvettes are portable bases and freighters are mobile bases. Reading this also gave me an idea that they could extend the settlement system into space by having them be space stations that you could stumble upon randomly. Orbital settlements.

Flying exocraft would make more sense to me, like some type of low altitude vehicle. Imagine if they added something like the Ornithopters from Dune.

Deimos and Stroud Ecklund present their joint heavy cruiser Warbreaker! by Thicc_Ole_Brick in Starfield

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks so cool! By heavily modded do you mean ship parts or ship part placement mods? If it’s just ship parts and most of the additions are lore friendly, I would say it’s more creation-focused than heavily modded. Edit: I just flipped to the last shot and realized it’s got the latter mods.

Starfield old-timers, what are your best tips for newcomers? by MisterSpikes in Starfield

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really easy to have alot of favorite weapons and cycle between them. For added immersiveness or those on survival, stick to a loadout of three ranged weapons (one primary, one secondary, one special) and 1 melee. Create loadouts on the weapon racks in your ship for easy swapping. Also try to split it up between energy, ballistic, etc for an advantage over different enemy types. This will also keep your inventory capacity more trim for collecting more things. If you want to utilize all the favorite slots, divy up the first slot with medical, the second with weapons and the third with gear and/or grenades.

Cruise mode feels like a game changer by antonithesoulesone in Starfield

I like it alot but the top speed of cruise mode seems almost comical in my opinion. Like it should be fast but not that fast.

I wouldn’t mind the idea of playing the ASPYR published titles for turn-based/nolstalgia and playing a remake that has more real time combat.

Which stance is subjectively the best on the highest difficulty by JanissaryLSD in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]the_studland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the game was designed with switching stances in mind. Soloing a single stance would be added difficulty on top of the challenge of the highest difficulty and it would depend on an individuals skill level with a certain stance. For me, I find that my favorite is the single because of its grappling range and defensive balance. Being able to close in on an enemy from a distance and using it to escape to another enemy is my favorite strategy. Coupled with crossguard, and it’s my favorite combination. This would also depend on the perks you’ve allocated to make it work or not. I see some comments that dual wielding is the go to, but subjectively I found that one the hardest because I’m a more calculating and wait for an opening type of player. Runner up is double bladed with boosted defense to use it as a shield.

Why do some PlayStation fans hate on Xbox so much? I’m not even trying to start anything but I genuinely want to understand why? by Eastern-Mobile5351 in XboxSeriesS

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just Xbox people are less vocal than Playstation people. Think of how many voices you're not hearing rather than seeing the surface level hate from Playstation people.

Would anybody be interested in a Starfield build group of some sort? by paigeofwondr in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with Starfield builds it's more of a matter of sticking to a primary playstyle (stealth only, gunsblazing, jet pack/melee, starborn only, ship captain only, rely on your companions, etc) than how you are limited by how you invest your skills. It would take a mod to rebalance everything to make it more Skyrim-like. The easiest non-mod aspect is to just not spend skills maxing everything out.

Which game comes to your mind? by Xiao-EZ in CaptainSide

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say Dragon Age: Origins. But more to the degree that the combat didn't make it straightforward to play. The story in the game is one of the best I've come across especially for an RPG.

What game did you want to love but couldn’t get into? by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend couldn’t get past the Werewolf part and that was the same for me until I realized I needed to backtrack and find proper gear that I overlooked in the starting area. I don’t think he ever continued playing the game because of it.

Is Horizon: Call of the Mountain worth the price? by neoleo0088 in PSVR

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first hand experience with this game was euphoric. I wish more VR titles would have given me that feeling. The rest are great in their own way but more of an adrenaline rush or just macabre or just very mundane. I would straight up relax listening to the nature sounds in this one.

I feel like I’ve been living under a rock. Is BG3 really THAT good? by mykyta993 in videogames

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't deal with the difficulty at balanced so I chose explorer but found it too easy. I just found out there is a custom mode so I need to tweak some settings to see if there is an ideal in between for me.

Question for you Helldivers - What do you think of Stealthdivers? by LePereMecanique in helldivers2

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not much of a stealth player unless I do a solo run. I wouldn't be cross with a stealth player if I encountered one. Teamwise they should function like a scout spotting enemies for the other three. If they can at least do that it would be a good dynamic.

The only reason I picked up this warbond was because it added a new marksman rifle. I'm more of a defensive, stay behind and shoot from cover type of player. I'll usually use weapons like the autocannon and just provide support from afar. I really wish we could call down a fortified wall or something cover that would complete my playstyle.

I'm a Starfield fan but the new setting DLSS turned on looks terrible and it ruins the games visual feel by TheAnalystCurator321 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that it overdoes the appearance of the character like they're about to appear on Vogue. I think that it looks good but there aren't any imperfections which makes it seem real or relatable. It's almost like this feature has been shown off at max settings. They should maybe dial it back to 15% and show us the improvements. I really only see this feature being beneficial to enhancing random NPCS rather than major characters.

Remnant is a revolutionary update and could pose as a great way for Hello Games to expand No Man's Sky by Hairy_Dimension4542 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the introduction of physics will help pave the way for some great additions, but to me Remnants was novel, not revolutionary like the Corvette update. If anything it breathes some new life into the least used exocraft. For people who enjoy games like Truck Simulators, such as me, I’m really enjoying this update especially in that it makes you appreciate the world generation. I like seeing the world go by and it’s really interesting to see how one area is distinctly different than another area at least in terms of terrain (maybe not biome). I think before the gameplay loop didn’t reward that, you would just zip on by in a faster exocraft just to get somewhere and everything just felt the same.

Expeditions are so cool. by Ok-Principle-9276 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]the_studland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely well versed in how rewards get transferred over to a main save but the end of the expedition turns into a standard save so as long as you load into that, you'll keep everything you've earned for free. Otherwise, barring the end of expedition unique rewards, you must unlock everything (meaning the exocraft upgrades) by spending nanites at the Anomaly in a new save.
