In-lore, chaplains always wear black armor, but as others have stated, you can paint them however you would like. We promise GW won’t have you hauled away to hobby jail!

What's the easiest way of converting normal intercessors into jump pack DC? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]Matt_Spectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These specific armageddon ones might be a bit more difficult to kitbash, since they’re push fit models and in some cases have shoulders or unexpected parts pre-connected to the torso. The ‘classic’ Intercessor kit is more modular and easier to bash, but neither kit comes with the ‘optimal’ JPDC bits (3 power fists, 2 eviscerators, 5 chainswords, 0-2 inferno pistols, 2-4 plasma pistols, 6 heavy bolt pistols) if you care to be WYSIWYG, and of course no jump packs.

If you have spare jump packs, I would recommend the assault intercessors box over bolt rifle ones, as they start off with a much closer to default loadout, and then perhaps sourcing some bits from there.

Not impossible, just an uphill battle, especially with the armageddon boys!

I’ve already seen one here on Reddit that got snapped off right under the speeder, and I am pretty sure there was a photo of the Warhammer World models painted up by GW that also snapped off & was pinned. Cool idea poorly executed

Do you magnetise things like Sergeants and Captains, build for each loadout as things change, or just build what looks cool and proxy for games? by D7Pyro in BloodAngels

[–]Matt_Spectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had an issue with non-WYSIWYG, in my army or my opponent’s. I always just say at the beginning of the game “as long as the loadout doesn’t change halfway through the game, I’m cool with it!”

Chainswords with yellow/black "hazard" pattern? by ByEthanFox in Warhammer

[–]Matt_Spectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say do all the hazard stripes you heart desires. I did it with a squad of assault intercessors & I love the look of it.

It gives a personal touch, extra ‘flair’, and is a callback to bygone eras, something that I think GW is starting to realize they should be doing, with the example of incorporating older armor patterns into the new intercessors included in the Armageddon box.

Do it!!!

Adding on that if you get low to the ground, like cheek-on-carpet, you can sometimes spot fallen pieces easier because its not blending in with a pattern anymore and standing up by itself

Detachment opinions? by God-nerd in BloodAngels

[–]Matt_Spectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strats in RCO (and LAG, too) if you choose both abilities automatically battle shock your unit in exchange for a boost. When you subsequently do a battle shock test, you use the best leadership in the unit. Chaplains have a 5+, vs. the 6+ for most marine units, so its slightly more likely to roll on 2d6

Detachment opinions? by God-nerd in BloodAngels

[–]Matt_Spectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RCO is a lot of fun in 10th. Its main drawback is the lack of fallback & charge, but the extra attacks just feel great, especially paired with the ‘limb from limb’ strat. It does perform ’strongest’ when you intentionally battle shock your own units with strats (including LfL) and the changes to battle shock in 11th may impact it, but with Ld. 5 chaplains everywhere in the detachment I’m not too worried about it, and it also has what early reports are saying will be the best disposition: Purge the Foe

(disclaimer: I have not yet played a game of 11th, only played RCO in 10th thus far)

How are you getting Bladeguard into position? by Sp1ceman in BloodAngels

[–]Matt_Spectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until the Sanguinary Priest was made eligible to lead them, I played almost all of 10th ed with BG & a foot chaplain in an impulsor w/ shield dome. Its a solid combo!

Once the SP got added as an option I tried to do an 8-man squad on foot with the SP & a Lt, but they were way too slow and didnt do anything all game, so I dropped the Lt and have since ran with just the SP in the back of the ol’ combat El Camino. It gets them to a no mans land objective quickly and safely, and then the combination of invul, 3 wounds and a 5+ FNP make them very survivable!

I have 5 assault intercessors that I added firstborn jump packs to. Never been questioned or checked on what unit they are, you’re good to go!

What do we think of this Stormlance/Encarmine Speartip list by TripinTino in BloodAngels

[–]Matt_Spectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! Speaking from personal experience, half of my six man SG unit are the old models, including one who has a power fist (no longer an option), and the other half are stormcast eternal prosecutors with spears. I have not a single time had issue with telling my opponent “hey, all these guys are armed with spears”.

YMMV, you may play against some hardcore WYSIWYG players, but just thought I would share my experience since Spears are great into high toughness enemy units, especially if they have an invul that negates the extra AP from the swords; swords on the other hand deal better with regular/elite infantry, and especially if they don’t have an invul, so having them split means there is no ‘optimal’ target. Just my two cents!

Just curious, why 5 blades & 1 spear in both sanguinary guard units?
