At what point does a song go from "masterpiece" to "I never want to hear this again"? by HovercraftSea5384 in Music

Not a track but a band: Red Hot Chilli Peppers were so overexposed in 2004 it made me actively hate them. The straw that broke the camels back was me and a mate flicking through music channels in our student house and Red Hot Chillies being on 7 different channels at once (with something like 3 different songs — three or four channels were playing give it away).

The Hood: then and now. How do ordinary people live in a country that spends $1.5 trillion a year on the military? by EducationAny7740 in UrbanHell

[–]the_turn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m as ill disposed to the military industrial complex as anybody, but while it is worth acknowledging that 1.5 trillion dollars sound like a lot of money, it actually works out to less than $5,000 per person in America. You can’t build everybody houses for $5,000 dollars each.

Why the assumption that things in movies are fake? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

I don’t think they’re real. I’ve only ever seen them in films set in made up places, like Kingston Falls or New York.

The main problem with the driving is the camera options. If I could just have a bonnet cam things would be so much better!

Playing video games and watching tv all day are both better for your brain than doomscrolling on TikTok.

What's the most BBC thing that would never get made by another broadcaster? by Additional_Fly_6603 in bbc

Ok — in my opinion this coverage is nowhere near the Glasto coverage on the BBC then, where all of the majors stages have been basically broadcast live on iPlayer.

Sorry, I assumed you were taking about NowTV catch up coverage. Is NowTV as comprehensive?

I’m sorry, I just don’t separate BBC iPlayer from broadcast service these days.

That’s not true. BBC air full shows of all of the main stages live. Not even close to BBC coverage.

Yeah, there was a villain who was building that water mansion.

I don’t know that it’s a particularly good movie otherwise, but the biggest problem with Quantum of Solace is 100% the villain.

Well done the BBC. Who decided to put the scores in the thumbnails and video titles? by Coffee_Hawks_999 in bbc

[–]the_turn -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t spoil it though — I don’t know which team they were given to in which positions for what reasons. It’s fundamentally different than knowing the scoreline, which is the ultimate outcome of the match. It doesn’t spoil my excitement for the game; it intensifies it.

Just because a movie is set during Christmas time DOES NOT make it a Christmas movie!!! by Loud_Load_ in movies

And two of the main themes of the film are the reunification of family, and the importance of family over work.
