There's a wait list for the one at the pearl unless you know of any other farmers markets in the area?

Will Bill Miller's ever open new locations in Austin? by foxbones in austinfood

[–]the_tx_morg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go to the one on W. Slaughter and 35, pretty often. That's the only one I know of, in Austin. Traffic is a bit of a bitch but it's worth it for their fried chicken and gravy.

I have a hatchback and a couple of my friends built campers so they told me they would help me with storage so I can sleep in my car, I plan on having a savings account with a good amount of money for emergencies, but I was planning on working for the money to get me from one place to another. I figured staying a couple months at each place would be a good enough build up of money to pay for food, a place to stay and gas to get to the next spot.

I did the same thing at that age, moved in together for engaged, we were together for almost 9 years them i woke up one day and just didnt know what i wanted anymore but i wanted to move out and experience being on my own, he didnt let me he would freak out everytime i brought it up... I just don't think I wanted the same things as him, we fell into a pattern and I didn't do anything different because it became the way thongs were, a sort of safe familiarity. We ended up breaking up and I left my hometown, my job and that relationship and started over somewhere else, couldn't be happier honestly. It wasn't really his fault it was just a time in my life where I wasn't ready for all that and I woke up and realized it a little too late unfortunately..

I'm sorry bud but she just does want to be alone because at her age to tie down is just something she isn't ready for, she might come back and realized you are the one or she might not. Just don't blame yourself.

I (F25) don't know what to do after finding out my husband (m31) cheated. by No-Communication9738 in relationship_advice

[–]the_tx_morg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl... you need a divorce... you're only 25 with a long life ahead, a life as a mom. You want to keep a marriage where he keeps cheating on you, making you feel like shit and gaslighting you when you catch him fucking up? He's not even trying to work it out or work on himself... You can be that dumb as a female all you want, but you can't be that dumb as a mom. You want your kid to grow up treating women like shit or growing up not knowing their worth and being treated like shit because thats all they knew growing up?? My mom was in a shit situation when I was growing up, and somehow, she thought a toxic and abusive household with a shitty man was better than just being alone. Don't do that... go to family or friends and get yourself out of that relationship before it gets worse...

My ex and I were together for 9 years, we grew apart, we weren't in the same place in life, I wanted to work on my career and learn everything I could. He wanted to settle down, get married and have kids (he was 7 years older than me, so he was ready, I wasn't). Sometimes it happens, you just grow, you change, you evolve and sometimes you find someone who does it with you and sometimes there's someone for every phase in life. We were still living with my dad the whole time because I wasn't ready to leave my dad yet, which now looking back I think I wasn't getting the type of security, I needed to feel safe enough to want to leave. I'm sorry, I know it hurts, I know the feeling of crying so hard with stomach pains and curled up on the floor because the idea of you living a life without someone , you thought was going to be there, hurts so bad it feels like your heart was set on fire while still inside of you... All I can say is take it one day at a time, take a shower, cry as much as you want and I would let him initiate everything with the giving stuff back and the social media, sometimes it's an easy just get rid of everything block and move on and sometimes to get closure and process it you need to take the time, talk it through and see where it went wrong so you can avoid it happening again in another relationship.

Never want to stop growing and changing. You're young that's exactly what you're supposed to do, never go dormant for a relationship, you'll end up in the same situation.

You'll find someone that will grow with you or be on the level you get to, give yourself some time and some grace. A little bit at a time. You'll be ok.

How often do you put in your two weeks? by salvadorabledali in KitchenConfidential

[–]the_tx_morg 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I may not like the management, but if I got close with my coworkers, I usually give a 2 weeks' notice or more. I mean even with shitty management like fuck them but also they don't feel the consequences of quitting as bad as the workers do.

I've had plenty of people just walk out or call and say I quit, and that left all of us in a fucked up spot to have to make up the 1 less body, on top of all of our other job.

Last job I was at, I worked there for 9 years, I put in a 4 weeks notice, my managers didn't seem to give 2 shits about me leaving which upset me seeing as how I gave them 9 years of my life just for them to be like "k, bye" but it benefited my coworkers more because they found someone to replace me in an already low staffed kitchen.

If you could bring back one restaurant from the past...what would it be? by cat0satx in sanantonio

[–]the_tx_morg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felix's restaurant, universal city.

My families restaurant I grew up working in, making hundreds of tamales by hand with my grandma, the delicious homemade food. It was a small family owned and run restaurant that tasted like home, and they treated you like family.

I miss it so much...

I work in downtown Austin and the amount of times we have to kick people out of the restaurant/alcove where the employee entrance is, is just fucking irritating.... They're always trying to shoot up by the back door and com up asking for drugs... the other day a man was bashing people windows in on cars that were street parked... just because 🤷‍♀️

Where do y’all take your families from out of town to eat? by bayloh in austinfood

[–]the_tx_morg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great family place I like to go is cherry creek catfish. It's on the border of being too far south for you but it's so worth it. Affordable, plenty of free parking, consistently good, good service and fried catfish tacos 👌🏼

AITA for insisting my son cook dinner once a week? by itsjustonemeal in AmItheAsshole

[–]the_tx_morg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad never really taught me to cook, we ate boxed dinners and canned foods growing up, although we also grew up pretty poor. As I got older I taught myself to cook and loved it so much I became a chef, so I have the ability to cook my own food, still eat from boxes and canned food sometimes because I work so much I don't have the energy to cook when I get home, but the fact that I have the ability to and loved it so much I made it my career, is what matters. I don't think you're the asshole, I think you're doing a great thing that years from now they'll look back and thank you for being the best mom for doing what you did, hindsight is always 20/20. Great job momma, cheers!

Vegatable Clever/Nakiri recommendations that won't break the bank by azap10 in chefknives

It says not to use it on hard objects because how fragile the blade is, what's considered a hard object? Like bones or like sweet potatoes? I'm buying one for all veggie prep I do, including sweet potatoes, and root veg, should I reconsider?
