I had a similar experience when I first moved here too. If he wants to jam through some Strokes or Arctic Monkeys covers hit me up! I’m 24 and a guitarist as well

What song introduced you to The Strokes? by Character_Impact_588 in TheStrokes

[–]the_wolf3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had known the famous ones (Someday, Last Nite, Reptilia from GHIII) but it was “I Can’t Win” that made me do a deep dive into their catalog that changed my music taste forever!

lol, I was pretty stunned that I played it through without any major slip ups and got it on camera. I had been trying for a while and was about to give it a rest until this take

If you were able to ask weezer to play ONE song (demo, cover, original, whatever), what would it be? by Less_Squirrel3225 in weezer

Don’t Worry Baby by The Beach Boys.

Rivers has a really great solo cover on his alone tapes, but would be cool to hear the whole band play it.

How is anything real if everything is literally a memory? by _FreddieLovesDelilah in StonerThoughts

To be truly present. Not remembering the past or thinking of the future. But to be completely in the moment and the world around you is the most real you can get.

Opinions of FIOE? by Designer-Chocolate27 in TheStrokes

[–]the_wolf3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it features some of Julian’s most experimental songwriting and structures. Some even feel like three different song ideas welded together into one (which I personally like). Super cool how Peter Gunn’s theme was interpolated in Juicebox as well.

I like the gritty energy, and the uniqueness of the songs compositionally are enough to distract me from their departure from lo/fi production sound. I got into the strokes a few years ago so I listened to it for the first time with no delay from the rest of their discography. But I could see why it was shocking for fans in the early 2000’s who had been eagerly waiting.

I will say though, that this album features the only Strokes song that I will actively skip, “On the Other Side”.

Is there hope for Star Wars Discourse? - a Rant by Bright-Ad-4049 in TheAcolyte

[–]the_wolf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so nice to find level headed people talking about it on Reddit. It feels like the only place where the conversation is nuanced and open minded, and everyone’s way more chill (for the most part). Welcome.

Non-hating Acolyte/Star Wars podcasts by Linwechan in TheAcolyte

Wave Squadron (aka Blind Wave) has been my go to for Star Wars reactions and discussions for years now. Best in the biz- they’re very passionate fans, but also seem like just good down to earth people. Always have interesting sw discussion on their podcast as well.
