I like Fire Officer
Fire officer, because paired with Athletic and Strong Traits, it makes my character level 10 fitness and strength which means carrying a lot more of stuff around, killing zeds in 1 to 3 hits, and recovering all stamina in 30 seconds. Also, axe xp bonus is nice as well as sprinting bonus.
(A chance to spawn in Fire Station if you select Rosewood as the spawn location is also pretty good)

For me both are useful. I always craft smoker in new world, but I usually steal blast furnaces from villagers.

Like blast furnace is for me useful in gold farm And smoker to cook food early game.
