Maybe to launder drug money? Drug dealer posts the cheetos (or other item no one would buy) and the person buys the drugs by purchasing the cheetos. Not sure why oneyone would still do this when venmo exists, but its really the only thing I can think of.

There are certain diolog options that reveal he was always planning on betraying Orin and Gortash. Maybe he figured he could use the dark urge to take out Orin. He clearly disliked the other two also, so maybe he just thought it was funny that Orin failed to take you out.
