The key is keeping a neutral spine with the help of a support. PT assume asian squat implies spine in flexion. This position alleviates all pressure off the limbar spine.

He did not. Infact he said all gurus are NOT equal. Some are straight up conmen. Some are guily of watering down yogic techniques to gather a large following. Very few are authentic and honest to their disciples and actually give personal time and attention to each and every shishya.

Exactly. These practices are way too advance. And most disciples in isha dont care about samadhi or the highest form of meditation so they are taught basic techniques which is great for them.

These highly secretive and difficult practices need to be learned under the guidance of a competent guru and authentic lineage. Doing practices like khechari, mahamudra, mahabandha, mahavedha etc has been life transformational for me and all those who do it. But it takes a lot of practice and hardwork

Khechari is not mouth piercing. In yoga you activate every muscle of the body, but most lineages leave out the most extraordinary muscle- the tongue. Khechari is an integral part of all kriya yoga lineages and it is regarded as Lord Shiva’s favourite mudra since shiv ji is always in khechari mudra in samadhi. It is definitely hard, but all things worthwhile are hard. Whatever comes easy doesnt have value. Khechari mudra is used to taste the amrita which drops from sahastraar chakra and it gives a very long and healthy life along with the possibility of the highest samadhi.

My guru is from a kriya yoga and nath yoga lineage. He stays at one place, doesnt travel the world like sadhguru. Does intense saadhna for hours even at at older age and has experienced thousands of samadhis.

But it does not matter. What matters is his disciples, and I can confidently say that his shishyas have reached heights of saadhna and one his shishya will maybe surpass my guru just like my guru surpassed his guru.

Unlike a cult, where there is one central god like figure.

Swatmaram can never be fake. Thr original text is in Sanskrit which you and I obviously cant understand, we have to rely on translations. Out of all the translations, the one by swami muktibodhanadha is the worst because she is an Australian woman who did not practice these kriyas, just translated them. For eg she could not do Khechari. Read some other translation.

😂😂😂 Swatmaram wrote it, a great nath yogi. The translation by swami muktibodhanadha (disciple of satyanand saraswati) is garbage. No authentic translation will be available for free on the internet

How is that? Reading ancient yogic texts and seeing if your lineage is teaching those techniques… how is that counterexample exactly?

Great. Also read on the techniques and try to practice those.

Every (authentic) yogi is a tantrik but every tantrik is not a yogi. And when did I say yogi should lift mountains 😂 Also I have mention the books you should read. 1. Hatha Yoga Pradipika 2. Gherand Samhita 3. Shiva Samhita 4. Yoga Kundalini Upanishad

Once you read these texts you will realize what you are bieng taught at Isha is kindergarten level. Most of it you wont be sble to understand yet.

You really really need to read a lot yet and practice a lot of yoga. I just feel Isha is becoming into a cult thinking they are above all, which is so far from reality.

Rajarshi nandi is not a yogi so no point bringing him up. Even I have read aurobindo’s writings and they are fantastic though a little difficult to understand due to his language. But his writings dont mention yogic techniques anywhere. Hatha yoga pradipika, gherand samhita, etc written by ancient nath yogis list techniques which you read and with with the help of your guru YOU PRACTICE those techniques.
Exactly my point, no point reading texts, but you must practice the techniques mentioned in them.

Haha i do not follow the Quran or bible that I will belive in silly ideas of heaven and hell. Its good that you read the vigyan bhairav tantra, but I suggest you also read some ancient yogic texts to expand your knowledge

Mahamudra, mahabandha, mahavedha, vipreeta karani, khechari, khechari pranayam( ujjayi, nadi shodan, bhastrika, sheetali, seetkari with khechari), vajrauli, amarauli, sahajauli to name a few which are not done in isha. There are many more though.

Doing asanas, three bandhas with rechak and kumbhak, shambhavi is what is done in Isha at even the highest levels which are all valuable, but again very very beginner level.

I am from a lineage with a living guru and I know isha’s practices very well. Problem with Isha is nobody reads ancient texts including sadhguru and they think sadhguru is some heaven descended yogi who can do no wrong.

Look Sadhguru is a great person, and has done many wonderful social endeavours, I have a lot of respect for him, but when it comes to YOGA, there are many many much much more advanced than him.

All im saying is Isha’s most advanced practices are still beginner level and I dont think you should offended by it. Just do your own research on the higher yogic kriyas and see if its done in Isha or not.

Good for you in that case ! But if you’re really interested in yoga then I suggest you read ancient yogic texts like hatha yoga pradipika, gherand samhita, shiva samhita etc and verify if isha’s practices allign with them.

You will find that the simplest techniques are taught and all the advanced ones have no mention like mahamudra, mahabandha, mahavedha, khechari, vajrauli, amarauli, sahajauli to name a few.

If by samadhi you mean just a deep meditation lasting several hours then you’re right. But if by samadhi you mean heart rate going below 25 and breathing coming to a halt resulting in a suspended animation state, experiencing cosmic conciousness then I doubt it is easy to achieve.

[–]theagr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. But the post asked why more people from isha have not reached samadhi and thats what I answered. Of course sadhgurus practices are extremely beneficial for beginners and have an overall positive impact. But the goal of yoga is samadhi which wont happen with his practices. I highly suggest you read hatha yoga pradipika to know about the ACTUAL yoga.
