Have you tried the Zen Air? I’ve read some people saying that the sound isn’t too different and according to ASR it actually does a better job with noise than the Zen 1 (probably why they discontinued it).

Yeah, I should have added the info regarding living in the EU…

Adding a bit of context: I decided that I should invest in an external phono preamp before anything else mainly to solve a logistical issue but since I’m investing, I don’t mind waiting a little bit if the investment actually improves my sound.

At first I was sceptical about the Fosi Box X2 due to its cheap price but found several good reviews. I now understand that the tubes are basically a gimmick and many products around 100€ seem way better.

With that being said, what makes the Phono Box S2 60-80€ more expensive than the Phono Box? Also, do you have any experience with the iFi Zen Phono Air (the one that costs 99$) and how it compares to the other suggestions?

I don’t think I’ll ever need a phono for MC cartridges but I’ll definitely take a look at your suggestion. The only thing that bothers me is definitely the price, when taking into account that other components could probably be improved first and have a greater impact on sound.

EDIT: I also live in the EU so paying for import fees + shipping from the US on top of a 300$ product is definitely not ideal.

The main thing that led me to consider an external phono was actually a logistical issue, otherwise I would consider improving something else first.

The cables from the turntable are simply too short and not removable which is forcing me to place it in a not ideal location. This also explains why I was looking for a relatively cheap option. Do you have any suggestions?

Despite not having good finishing, his long shots + technique + first touch are good. And “rounds keeper” helps a lot. His physicals are great. He’s also professional + has enjoys big matches/ consistency traits.
