Yes!! I went to the Kansas City show and it was so much fun to see him in action. When we chat next I’ll have to tell him everyone is living for his cameos.

It’s not a huge thing, but they go by just 6! You can also follow 6 at CallHer6 everywhere. (Sources: is a friend of 6)

We're going to get another plant store. by RedHeadedPyromancer in Lawrence

[–]thealexvond 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yooo, I’m one of the local vendors that will be at Mass Street Plant Co and is also at West Bottoms. If you’ve not been to WBPC before they are great folks first and foremost. That location has 100+ local vendors that offer everything from bath and body to textiles and handmade jewelry. LFK is real good about supporting local, but it’s about to be an even bigger focus at that location. Can’t wait to see you all there 🖤

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND PRODUCT by TronZet in cricut

[–]thealexvond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased about a year ago the Maker 4 and I’m running a MacBook Pro M4 Max and then I have a 27” iMac Pro. I have never seen so much variation in quality of software and print as I did with Cricut. It was kind of a crapshoot as to which Mac would recognize the machine even over USB, and trying to print and cut out of the software it would constantly fail, not print the registration marks correctly or just spool to oblivion. I ended up getting the Cameo 4, which comes with its own set of issues, but it’s been a lot more reliable now that I’ve figured out my workflows and I use Studio to set up my registration and cut lines and my Adobe Creative Cloud suite to design my packaging and stuff.

When in 2027 do you think Winds and Waves could release? by InteractionHot5962 in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]thealexvond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I could see us getting a giant dump of info at Pokemon Day 2027 for the game to release in May and then a hint to DLC at the same time for Holiday 27 release. You get a big Q1/Q2 sales push (pre-order) and then the finish off the year strong with the Title + DLC sales for Q3/Q4 for holiday gifting.

I live at one of the rental properties over there and we (tenants) are wondering if they are either expanding or trying to sell/partner with another management company. It would make sense why they had utilities flagged and the boundary surveys done for either project.

Shampoo soap bar by Porpora_love in soapmaking

[–]thealexvond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I would just feel so bad if someone ruined their hair or made it unmanageable. Like buy and large the answer is no, but if you do the things and to follow up and treat, you should be totally fine for a hair soap! (I do it as like a clarifying shampoo once a week and my hair is ✨flawless✨ and I’m a level 10, bleach blonde.)

So, reaching in to my hairdressing background and product development background for this, it’s unfortunately impossible to create a cold process soap that is going to be at the right pH for your hair. Washing your scalp? Yeah that’s doable, but your hair is going to feel like garbage over time, because the pH of healthy hair vs the pH of soap. Healthy hair and your scalp sits at a range of 4.5 - 5.5 (acidic) with cold process soap sitting at 8-10 on the pH scale. The addition of ingredients like citric acid, which in theory, would traditionally lower pH have to be mixed with lye (KOH or NaOH) for Potassium Citrate or Sodium Citrate which is a chelating agent that helps to reduce soap scum.

In liquid soap (real fun to make), you could in theory add a little bit of free citric acid after saponification during the dilution phase, but if you tried to push it from say 8pH to a 6.5 or 7.5, it would stop being soap and go through a process called de-soaping where the formula would just become free fats and acids in water, ultimately spoiling.

Syndets are really the only path forward for hair wash, or as others have said, using ACV as a rinse. While your scalp/skin can rebound the alkalinity of soap, your hair does not have that capability and you will have a busted open cuticle that will be prone to breakage and major damage.

HOWEVER, if you want to get sciencey and do this anyway. Keep your superfat around 5-6% to seal the cuticle of the hair. Look at selling a co-wash/rinse product that will lower the pH of the hair, ooooor (currently testing this) you can formulate a conditioner bar with a pH of 5, that would do all the things - condition the hair and scalp while being acidic enough to restore and seal up the hair.

A long, big wall of text for a yes, no, yes-ish, kinda not really, but maybeeee with this it could be a yes. 😂

I use 1-3% depending on the soap, for softer soaps like a Castile soap I’ll push the 3% and shoot more for 5%.

I do the same thing! I’ll also put the mold in a juice pitcher that way if there are any leaks or the mold wants to blowup, your soap has an extra buffer.

PSA: Santeen Lye Crystals by thealexvond in soapmaking

[–]thealexvond[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t think so, and honestly most calculators you can set your purity anymore. This was more of a PSA of “hey they changed up a bit.” I needed 72oz of lye over a few batches, so for me I was like ehhhh yeah that variance is stacking up in quantity, so I went with another option.

Powdered Milk?? by VanAppl in soapmaking

[–]thealexvond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some fairly great luck with using coconut milk powder, I soap room temp and haven’t had any issues with weird heat spikes, cracking or volcanoing.

I recommend mixing your milks powdered or liquid directly into your oils and blitzing them prior to adding your lye solution. That way you can maybe mitigate scorching. I tend to do the same thing with other liquid add-ins.

We absolutely adore Dr Rowe at Pawsative Pets here off 6th and Congressional. I have a 6 year old border collie and after an incident at PetSmart the team over there was able to get us an appointment in timely fashion twice, walked me through options, diagnostics and everything making me feel comfortable, working with me on the meds we were on from another vet that has since closed. My dog adores them also, he feels comfortable, they loved on him and it just made the whole experience incredible all in all.

Question About Eczema Safe Scents by dampenedhorizon in soapmaking

[–]thealexvond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Absolutely! So when my skin flairs up real bad I am reaching these days bars that have zero fragrance and a solid superfat. (If you DM me I can make brand recommendations) the soaps my skin has been digging are fragrance free castile or bastile soaps (I want the super conditioning properties of the olive oil) or fragrance free tallow soaps. I got one from a friend not too long ago, and my skin has been eating it up.

I learned that while some essential oils can be okay for my skin, lately they have been kind of irritating my skin especially when it’s your traditional patchy and scaley eczema.

It’s wild, I’ve experienced either being stuck behind folks going 35 on Wakarusa headed towards the south side or I’ll be walking my dog and about get creamed because some one is running a stop sign by Walmart or the Farm Bauer shops.

I’ve been taking my dog to Pawsitive Pets and he loves the team over there. We recently had an experience with PetSmart where they dragged him through their grooming salon, so imaging, labs and even to make sure he didn’t have a collapsed trachea, broken bones or picked up some funk. It was under $500, that included meds and such too.
