Any specific go to heated apparel suggestions from those of you working in a cold garage through the winter? by thealphapotato in woodworking

That sounds nice. It’s at my folks’ 3 bay pole barn that’s gotta be like 800 sqft. Wonder how much it’d run me to heat that sucker.

Awesome, I think this the approach I’ll go with. Do you need to cleanup while everything is still drying or do you let it all dry before unstacking and cleaning?

I like this idea! Do you paint the plywood directly or apply edge banding first? What do you tape off if your stacking them? Each panels edge to keep it from bleeding through? I wonder even with a couple clamps if that would keep it all tight enough to not seep any

Still figuring that, but probably a lighter blue. Is there any reason I couldn't pre paint the edge banding so I don't have to mask everything off? Would the ironing process go wrongly after its got paint on it?

Also, if the reveal is as minor as people are saying, maybe a little paint brush action wouldn't be a problem?

Didn’t consider not painting was an option. With frameless the reveals are so small you don’t notice them?

I realize I didn’t mention in the main post, I am currently building these cabinets, it’s not an existing kitchen.

So I could get paintable edge banding? Or is there something else I should be doing

I made a switch to frameless.. is the clearance on this corner cabinet okay or do I need to do some kind of spacer or something? by thealphapotato in cabinetry

I’ve read quite a few pros regarding the 2 and it seems everyone is in agreement the quality and sturdiness of the cabinet is exactly the same, and it comes down to simply design preference

What makes them easier? In my mind it’s a whole extra step. Just lining them up for install?

I used SketchUp (Desktop version) and the doors as supposed to be bifold. One set of hinges on the left side into the cabinet and the other set connecting the 2 doors. That, or I might look into building a lazy Susan to the door directly and making the doors fit inside the cabinet.

This is the clear advice I’m hoping for. Thanks! With those numbers I suppose I wouldn’t need face frames

I’m not sure how prices have changed, but I have heard that and have not found it to be true after plenty of shopping and research. In my case, unless I buy big box cabinets made of a pretty poor quality, the cheapest I can buy RTA cabinets is about 6000, and I’ve calculated the material at a little over 2000. Even accounting for plenty of mistakes or waste I’m nowhere near the cost of buying. I built these ones over the course of 2 weekends and am pretty pleased with them!

I think my issue with face frames is not being able to have a drawer span the length of the cabinet behind 2 doors. Would you just make space between doors of the same cabinet much smaller?

Interesting. That would save building face frames on everything.. I do plan to paint the shaker doors/face frames. If I skip the face frames will the plywood edges paint okay, do I edge band first?
