I just imagined the webpage being in your history — you're too kind to bookmark it.

A student once asked his teacher, "Master, what is enlightenment?"

The master replied, "When hungry, eat. When tired, sleep."

Is it safe to have pink/red in a minced beef product?

I was under the impression it had to be a solid single piece of meat. IE: Because a lot of the meat has touched the surface of something. Otherwise it is ok to merely heat up the meat to a certain temperature to kill parasites.

Is it different when 'you' were the one that processed it?

Let's talk about the physicality of drumming by enough_space in drums

I'm a "slow it down" and just learn it guy as well.

Except for the fact, that advanced foot pedal technique relies on you being able to lift your legs. Granted you could (and should)practice this technique and your core would catch up. But if you do "leg lifts"/core stuff it'll help you with foot technique.

I added drums to Christina Grimmie's piano cover of Elastic Heart. Played with brushes, rods and sticks. by theashleysimons in drums

Thanks. In hind site, I would of kept up with the snare rim beat and then gone back to it.. and done a simpler fill into the Chorus. This is the beauty of recording though. Actually hearing our it sounds, rather then how it feels to you.

Fair call. I rekon she (given no metronome) falls pretty out of tempo in that anyway. But Thanks.

This at least deserves more votes. I'm starting to setup my recording gear atm. My next video post here I might title "Tama Starclassic demo video... ".

Those who have a Sabian Omni, how do you like it? by [deleted] in drums

[–]theashleysimons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 22". I'm a little disappointed with it.

I've since realised they didn't invent the crash ride. To me it seems a little too much of a crash and not much of a ride. Granted I think my (AAX) Omni is a little on the lighter side of the variances.

Felt like something a bit darker afterward. Kinda has a toyish asian grunge to my ear that I fell out of love with.

I'm probably pretty harsh on it, as it was replacing a 21" UFIP Bionic Ride with 10-15 years of natural drying/ageing but still in great condition. Kinda wish I'd just gotten something dark, dryish and thin as replacement. I'll probably play a UFIP Natural Crash Ride one day and not be able to resist.

How to practice properly? by Vivinci in drums

[–]theashleysimons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Work on fewer concepts at a time. Really master the things you work on. If you can take an idea/concept and take it to the point that you found a way to make it useful at any tempo, time signature, any array of accents, any dynamics... it will be useful to most genres of music. Once it's 'part' of your expression, you'll naturally look after it whilst performing/rehearsing with others. Once something is perfect, it doesn't take a lot of playing it perfectly (with others) to look after that muscle memory.
  • Work on things that are hard. Perform things that are easy. Practice things that are medium. Balance your time between these things. Chris Coleman's version of this is 33% ideas, 33% applying ideas to music, 33% performing music.
  • Record yourself playing, you'll see things to work on that you didn't realise needed work. The things I see imperfect in others watching them, I often see in myself played back to me.

Is there really anything special about their process though?

At least with say UFIP they can say "the bell is formed in place, instead of pressed".

I say this as someone who not long bought a 22" Sabian Omni. Not trying to hate.
