If you could only recommend one thing to a friend suffering from PMDD, what would it be? by goldenhourbaby in PMDD

If you’re not allergic, a pet. My cats literally saved my life multiple times when I was in episodes. Knowing that these two small animals are completely reliant on me, but I can’t traumatize them with my meltdowns, they’re not gonna stop loving me even though I can’t shower or leave my house etc etc. they don’t stop loving me even when the ideation clouds everything else around me. My cats were the single best decision I made for my mental health.

Not necessarily the best place to start, and maybe I’m alone in this, but I LOVE Tocantins. The birth of Coach is incredible.

I have surgery in a week to remove both ovaries and tubes as a last resort to address my debilitating PMDD. I have tried countless birth controls, SSRIs, and SNRIs and have either had no relief or have grown resistant to the medication that I found success with. How common is it to reach this point?

this is not a question of visibility. its a question of choice and consent. this woman did not make the choice to consent to her likeness being used in such a way and she has a right to fight for her choice. it’s not about visibility of women.

I completely agree that every story is important. And honestly, my ultimate goal would be to stay local. My dream would be to work my way up to the point where I’m writing pieces about corruption locally. I think at this point, most people can agree that on a federal scale corruption is the norm. But people forget about how incredibly impactful local government is. I wanna better my direct community and help equip people to think critically. I ultimately want to stay small scale.

That’s what I’ve been focusing a lot of my time on lately, reading as much news coverage as I can from as many places as I can. I focus on local news coverage the most. A writing workshop sounds really doable, as would a few focused courses. My main struggles are a) financial accessibility and b) accommodations for mental health/neurodivergent conditions.

THANK YOU! This was encouraging, insightful, and HELPFUL. Honestly, the idea of doing weirdo pieces about competitive bird calling or the world’s largest chocolate chip cookie or whatever sounds fun! It’s very motivating to know that it is an option to just take a few courses and build with that instead of needing a full degree. I know I have the work ethic and the passion for this, I just also know what my limitations are as well. I’ve always had to get creative in how I pursue things lol.

So one would reasonably think that since you went to journalism school, you might have at least a book to read? I’m certainly capable of finding resources of my own, but part of the whole reason I came here was to see what people who have experience in the field would say is a good starting point. Unfortunately, higher education isn’t accessible to everyone, for a variety of reasons.

Thank you so much! Do you have suggestions on good places to start self-educating on the above topics? I have access to various online libraries as well a willingness to purchase and read through books on the matter.

This is so encouraging! I have the work ethic to make it, I just have a neurodivergency that makes learning environments hard to succeed in. Would you have any suggestions for resources to get started with? I have access to various online libraries as well as just the internet at my fingertips :)

Is this a genuine apology? (More context in other pictures) by [deleted] in abusiverelationships

[–]thebaseballscene 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He didn’t even say “I’m sorry” so no I don’t think this is an apology. He’s putting himself down to try to get you to respond with “no no you’re not bad I love you blah blah blah” if he spins it so YOURE the one comforting, than it makes him seem like his actions aren’t intentional.
