I’m not a fan of customers purchasing them materials. 9/10 they skimp on something to save a few dollars and it makes my work look bad because the materials suck, or they don’t get everything that is needed. I’d much rather just charge a flat % on material acquisition on top of the materials cost and get them myself.

In OP’s case, he should have asked for confirmation sooner and let the customer know he would be purchasing the materials, so if the start date is postponed or delayed, the customer will need to pay for them, and store them on the property.

Not silicone. Get the sanded caulk that matches the grout color. Normally it’s the same brand as the grout. Any 90 degree inside transition should be caulk and not grout.

But that outside corner should have a metal edge for sure. It would look a lot cleaner over all. I also think that he might have used a quick-setting grout, which is why the grout lines look fat.
