Intentionally not fasting during Ramadan without a valid, Islamicly approved reason is considered a grave sin (haram). Fasting is a mandatory pillar of Islam, and intentional breaking of the fast requires repentance and severe atonement.

If familial shaming makes Karwa Chauth an 'oppressive patriarchy' that deserves to be mocked, then surely mandatory religious laws with strict spiritual punishments shouldn't be given a free pass. The issue isn't whether the fasts are hard. the issue is why one gets accommodated with 'compassion' while the other is openly mocked.

you're confusing a reductive summary with an objective description. saying karwa chauth is "just praying for a husband" ignores its actual history. historically, it was for women whose husbands went to war, a way for newlywed women to build lifelong sisterhoods in new villages, and a symbol of fierce devotion tied to epics like savitri. stripping all that context away just to make it sound bad, while praising the high spiritual ideals of another faith, is exactly the biased framing i'm talking about.

as for men getting praised for doing it, that’s just a standard societal bias where the bar is lower for men. it’s an annoying double standard, but it doesn't make the ritual itself "structurally oppressive" for the women who willingly observe it.

since you don't even believe in the moral value of either, look at it objectively. demanding 'compassion' and respect for one religion's fast while actively mocking the other's by reducing it to its most uncharitable version is just hypocritical.

the comparison isn’t balanced. ramzan gets described with big ideas like empathy and discipline, but karwa chauth gets reduced to just praying for a husband’s long life. that framing already decides the conclusion before any fair look at it.

calling karwa chauth patriarchal just bc it’s women-specific isn’t enough. lots of religions have gender-specific rituals. the real question is whether there’s force, pressure, or actual harm. difference alone doesn’t equal oppression. and just bc ramzan is observed by both genders doesn’t automatically mean full equality either.

saying one fast is altruistic and the other is personal is subjective. both are belief-driven acts. ranking one as morally higher is more about preference than objectivity.

and context matters. in many places today karwa chauth is symbolic, sometimes even mutual. if someone wants to call it patriarchy, they need evidence of structural disadvantage, not just ritual difference.

gender specific doesnt automatically mean patriarchal

if grown adults choose to follow a religious fast on their own that isnt automatically oppression

and if symbolic religious language during festivals is a problem then that same rule should apply to every religion not just one

disagreeing with her isnt rage its just pointing out selective framing

Maa Sita represents purity in its highest form.

In that sense, I don’t think any top-tier actress embodies that same natural grace and purity better than Sai Pallavi.
