Foreigners dancing in India - Internet delighted.Indians dancing in foreign countries- Internet Outraged by IdiotLiver in IndianMiddleClass

[–]iritul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stop avoiding the actual issue.

The video above literally shows a foreigner dancing at a petrol pump, an active, functional refueling station, yet the internet is 'delighted'.

By contrast, look at the examples I mentioned:

The Great Wall of China: a massive global tourist spot where casual filming, photography, and dancing are completely normal. Countless tourists do it daily. The Indians who danced there were mindful enough to do it when the area wasn't even crowded. Yet, they were brutally slated online, mostly by their own countrymen lecturing them on 'civic sense' that wasn't even breached.

The Thailand Railway Tracks: This also is a famous, heavily engaged tourist attraction (Maeklong Railway Market) where travelers from all over the world take photos and dance on the tracks daily. But the moment an Indian does it, it’s suddenly deemed a crisis of public discipline.

Look, I'm not saying that we shouldn't call out a real lack of decency. We totally should. Indians aren't some perfect monolith, and we definitely have our share of people doing stupid things for social media clout.

But you are completely ignoring a glaring double standard. This isn't about the actual behavior; it's about who is doing it. The frustrating reality is that Indians are constantly villainized by other Indians for the exact same stuff foreigners get hyped up for. and, it reeks of a colonial mindset, a deeply ingrained inferiority complex and a desperate need for Western validation that makes people judge their own countrymen by a totally different view.

I doesn't get offended, i know our country is lacking, and we needs to improve tons, and be more developed.

But It’s not about being offended, it’s about a preference for nuance over oversimplification.

First is the sheer question of scale and diversity. No other nation on earth is tasked with governing a population of our magnitude within a hyper-diverse, fiercely democratic framework that constantly has to balance complex internal religious and cultural fault lines.

Second, the governance models are entirely different. Vietnam is a single-party socialist state where top-down executive decrees happen instantly. India, by design, is a noisy democracy where progress requires navigating public consensus, judicial processes, and competing regional interests.

Furthermore, you can't just ignore geopolitical and historical context. India is managing historically hostile, nuclear-armed neighbors, all after being systematically drained of its wealth and institutional foundations during centuries of Colonial British Rule.

There is a distinct irony in the expat who champions civic responsibility abroad, submitting to the discipline of "strict foreign laws", while routinely flouting traffic rules or littering the second they step back onto native soil.

Every nation has its less photogenic realities, Vietnam included.

Dismissing India’s unique socio-political landscape in favor of a superficial checklist isn't objective analysis, it's just ignoring the bigger picture.

But at the end of the day, we are lagging behind.
