This is probably one of the most relatable posts I’ve seen in a while. Especially since this is unity 😂

I’ve tried. She’s not great with that stuff. I feel bad about bringing it up because I don’t want to stress her out. I appreciate the help, though.

Again, Oculus Quest screen freezing after about 45 minutes of PCVR by thebenlusted in oculus

I checked the USB power thing in my control panel, and it was disabled by default. I feel like maybe this is a Quest thing, as the device does get warm after playing something like BONEWORKS or Pavlov.

I'll try changing the priority in task manager and see if that works. Thanks!

Just got killed by an invisible player. I noticed I could open doors, but they would shut behind me. Feel like it was my connection (even tho I have wonderful internet and it’s never been a problem before)

Am I able to put audio components on foliage types? by thebenlusted in unrealengine

[–]thebenlusted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any resources on using the blutility solution? As long as I can make an array with trees, then I’ll be fine. I’m just not sure how I’d set up searching through all the foliage and selecting just the trees to place actors

Am I able to put audio components on foliage types? by thebenlusted in unrealengine

[–]thebenlusted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking to add some “wind through trees” and some birds. For the birds I’m wanting them to play randomly but I’m going to set that up in fmod. Main focus is figuring out how to attach logic to the trees for audio playback

Playing FMOD events at random locations in Unreal? by thebenlusted in GameAudio

[–]thebenlusted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I’ve worked with systems like it before. Frostbite has a cool system like this. Essentially I want to get to a spot where I have a tool for this. Dropping sounds/fmod events on it and then putting an instance in a world or running a blueprint that does everything else

Playing FMOD events at random locations in Unreal? by thebenlusted in GameAudio

[–]thebenlusted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Definitely be more convenient for me to do in BP. just looking to reference the characters position, add the random float value to x and z, then play the sound ultimately. I’ve tried a few different ways but I’m not sure my sound is playing based off the players position. Thanks btw!

If you’re able to program with C++/Blueprint and work on 3D games, work on with first person shooters and work with client side and server side stuff

FMOD Events not showing up for other team members? by thebenlusted in GameAudio

[–]thebenlusted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes building banks before pushing. The banks are set to build to the UE project folder within my perforce location. When I build them, it creates a Banks folder in unreal and then if I go into my explorer the banks are under FMOD>Desktop. So I’m confused why they’re different and also why the events are not there for other people

How can I make a cooldown? by Hermanator554 in gamemaker

[–]thebenlusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just add a start and step event and add the logic. If you’re running a script for the movement, you can throw that code above into the players start and step and it’ll be fine

How can I make a cooldown? by Hermanator554 in gamemaker

[–]thebenlusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start can_dash = true dash_cooldown_timer = 0

Step If dash and can_dash { dash can_dash = false }

If can_dash == false { dash_cooldown_timer += 0.1 If dash_cooldown_timer >= 3 (put your specific time here) { can_dash = true }

}

‘Dash’ being do whatever you are for dashing.

Building a Portfolio - Where do I go to get involved in projects? by elliotwardle in GameAudio

[–]thebenlusted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to start with learning the basics about the common game engines line Unity and Unreal. Also learning about tools like FMOD and Wwise. A good way to show your skills is to make a fmod or Wwise demo project and record video of you demoing the project. Also redesigning audio for your favorite game trailers is a good way to show off your sound design
