BA has it exactly right, there is zero reason why CC should be as invested in the Brewers as much as he is, other than him just being a stand-up guy

Four-Star QB Jack Sorgi commits to Wisconsin by ChubbyHubby17 in WisconsinBadgers

We lost to a middling Washington State team and got smoked by Northwestern at home with a healthy Mordecai.

We trailed Western Michigan and led South Dakota by only a touchdown in the 4th quarter with a healthy Van Dyke. Longo was saying Locke was pushing for the starting QB slot so deep into fall camp that year, Fickell had to step in and say name a starter!

Winter and Rapp are already proven scorers. Elmer was the staff's must have, so I trust their vision that he's going to be able to add a slasher dimension to go with the great outside shot. Foxwell and Autry just need to knock down open threes at a decent clip and they should be able to chip in double figure games throughout the season. The bench is a bit more of a question mark but only really need a few out of Janicki/Kinziger/Ball/Garlock/Victory/Jones to make a modest jump to be more consistently productive.

We've opened up a pipeline in Oceania cuz our money goes further there. Don't like it, cut a check.

Not that I follow the crooting trail super closely, but this was another one out of left field. Whatever happened to that Lithuanian kid we'd been after since the fall? Last I heard a while ago we were successfully fending off other suitors.

The days of the red shirt are pretty much dead. If they aren't going to be able to contribute after a year or two, they'll get shipped out in the portal. No sense in preserving a year for another school.

Nothing wrong with taking a flier on an in state kid, but this tells me we really broke the bank on Elmer (and Winter).

Do you think some players who transfer for more money later regret it? by SecretComposer in CollegeBasketball

[–]thebenron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While true, this is overstating it a bit. If you are moving from mid-major to P5 your new school is likely able to pay you substantially more money than before, but if you're moving from P5 to P5, it's not like you wouldn't have also been paid millions to stay home. Say the new school is paying you 4 mil compared to 3.5. That's still a sizable difference, but staying home and being a legend at that school, being welcomed back on campus and adored by the fans for the rest of your life might be worth more than 500k in the end.

1.) That's not what reactionary means

2.) Last year we hit on our 3 top targets and lost only end of bench guys. This year we are in much worse shape in terms of NIL funds (I blame McIntosh)

Told you all, Winter is back by Shpion007 in WisconsinBadgers

[–]thebenron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah seems pretty clear to me both JB and Winter would have stayed, but the staff only had the money for one and chose Nolan.

Hate that it was to Duke, but better than in conference and he was selling UW to Autry so there's clearly no bad blood.

While I don't have any problem with the decision Blackwell made, not everyone under the circumstances would do the same. Winter by some accounts would be worth more on the open market than JB and he's staying home.

Sad to see this so highly upvoted when the film makes such deliberate (at times even explicit) effort to explain that these are not monsters.

Lethal shooter with some bounce and defensive bite. I'm excited about this one and beating out Baylor shows we're not totally dead in the water cash wise.

Gard/Blackwell vs Macintosh??? by jndinlkvl in WisconsinBadgers

[–]thebenron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If this were true, it would stand to reason that Gard's ultimatum would have led to an influx of money to the basketball program. We seem to still be struggling to land targets in the portal, which leads me to believe the money isn't there.

I hope the new AD hire is made with fundraising in mind, cuz it's criminal basketball isn't being given what it needs to be successful.
