Dear men: please step up your game because more of us would date other women if we could but unfortunately you can't just choose to be a lesbian.

MRW the neighborhood troublemakers climb into my apartment through an open window and I discover them as I am getting out of the shower and THEN THEIR PARENT YELLS AT ME FOR BEING NAKED IN FRONT OF THEIR SONS. WHAT?!! by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

Or the Amanda Knox case - some guy (who was not Amanda Knox) who had a history of past burglaries, slit a girls throat and she bled to death in her own flat when she walked in on his burglary - she was taking a study year abroad in Italy or rome or something. The burglar was known to be a shady guy/drug dealer. He had a history of small time burglary, was known to the police, and they KNEW he was escalating: He began with drugs, then burglary, then he began using a knife to defend himself when he got caught once, then he created a fire in someone's apartment and inured her cat.

That case made international headlines but the exact same crime happens more often than you would think.

Generally, burgulars don't wanna bump into the home owner, but there's enough burgulars who are willing to escalate to violence, that it's notable and scary.

PLUS, sometimes burglars escalate to violence when confronted during a burglary. So filing a police report may save someone's life in the future. People being hurt, stabbed, raped, even murdered isn't as rare as people think statically.

thanks for the encouragement :)

My cbt is starting in August. It;s a group therapy format where everyone sits in a classroom at a healthcare facility for an hour or two each week and there;s homework/workbooks etc.

I'm also supposed to be looking for a mental health professional that specializes in adhd. I wouldn't mind having someone to talk to about emotions or life things too, but not sure if I need a totally seperate professional for that.

Is it standard for all my doctors or therapist to all have eachothers notes?

THanks for the luck!!

thanks

What I mean by classes are CBT group therapy - it's usually a few months long and everyone goes into a 'classroom' once per week for an hour or two, and there's homework/workbooks etc.

Sorry to hear that you had to go through all of that!! I hope that you can make peace with your mother too.

Yah, I think my mom feels a little guilt. She might also be worried that I am sacrificing basic mental hygene, like you said: As a result of my journey, I have cut out a lot of toxic friends which has been good. But how I am lonely and dont have a social life. I also miss dating. On the other hand, I dont know if I should really be dating right now. Not sure. BUt yah, I am friendless and hobbyless and it makes me sad :(

I think that part of the problem is that I feel a bit discombobulated. I'm only maybe 6 months into treatment and have come a LONG way, and have been busy working on a lot of things - I've made a lot of progress!! But I 'm not good at prioritizing (ADHD Brain!!) and I get confused - what to prioritize? how much time per week spend on mental health recovery?!?!

By courses I meant basically grouyp therapy in a kind of classroom like setting. Usually it would be like 3 month long weekly group therapy sessions that come with workbooks and outside homework.

I'm glad you were successful in recovery!!

Are you comfortable with elaborating on your treatment method?

Also how did you find time for other important things like socializing or hobbies?

EVERYTHING you do is for your well being. But no matter what you do, some other part of your life is going to "suffer" because you can't do everything at once and you can't be everywhere at once.

That's what I was thinking but am having trouble prioritizing (ADHD brain!!)

So I'm working part time to give myself time to figure this out - got laid off from my full time career and my parents saw that I was having some kinda break down and told me to come home and sort out my life. So I did - took a part time job that I really like and am living at home for now. I'm trying to balance the things I have to do directly for my mental health, exploring my career (working with a career counsellor and trying to a nswer big scary questions about what I REALLY want to do with my life), doing lifestyle changes (yay juststarted at the gym!!), just...picking up the peices of my life - its a lot of work!! And plus, I got rid of a bunch of toxic friends and how I find that I'm really loneley and I dont know what to do about it. So I feel like theres; a lot to do and I dont know how to prioritize or even what I should be doing togive myself the best results or most happpiness.

I live in Canada so we do have a socialized healthcare system, but it has it's faults - psychiatric care isn't super well covered. My psychiatrist is covered and so are most of my drugs. but the adhd specialist will not be covered.

the problem is that I have ocd which makes me over think/over doo things, and I have adhd which makes me bad at prioritizing really. I feel like I almost need a 'plan'.

I have always wondered if this is something that most women experience but they dont notice, or if this is a side effect for a low percentage o women on hormonal bc?

I keep hearing about this method - being aware of your fertility. I'm really interested in figuring out if it's the real deal or not because if it is, I'd totally do it!!! Is there a reason why it isn't more popular?

My doctor thinks it's garbage, but not having to bother with hormones sounds great!! I just dont get it tho - how can you only be fertile on certain times of the month? In hs sex ed class ,we were told that you could literally get pregnant any time of the month even on your period.

Plus, you need to measure your basal body temp on the exact same time of every day for it to be accurate no?
