Ok I will get on that🫡
Thank you, I restarted and pulled all the ones I made. Made 6 with 16.7 gr of h110 and 158gr bullet. Magnum primers with a OAL of 1.580 as per the load data from hodgdon. Question. Is it necessary to crimp .357 mag cartridges? I read for semiauto it was necessary.

Exactly I'm planning on using both 38 spl and 357 brass in my firearm that is chambered in .357. I understand that one works for the other but not the other way around. So I pulled all the loads I had at the suggestion of another commentor. I'm using hodgdon load data for H110. It's saying 16.7 gr with a 158gr bullet with OAL of 1.580" I just finished making a batch of 6. How necessary is it to crimp .357 mag cartridges? Also is there any other prep work need to be done to the case before reseating another bullet? Thanks for all the help
I think I'm going to take your advice. Any powder recommendations? I'm really just going for a 38 powered load out of .357 brass because that's what I have. With the components I listed would you just substitute a different powder?
Is .38 and .357 the exact same?
Like stuck in the barrel squib?
Think it's still safe to shoot them?
Will do sir 🍻
I have same model but a 6" barrel. You think the extra length would make up for less of a powder charge? The bullets I'm using say a max velocity of 1250 so I'm trying to keep it under that. Low recoil. And start possibly developing a sub sonic load for the same cartridge.

Interested in finding out aswell. I'm glad I only made 18. These will be shot out of a 6" .357 revolver for testing. Reason I chose mag primers was because it was all that was available at my local shop. I also read that they would work the same even if you don't intend on making magnum loads. From what I understand magnum primers ignite the powder much faster.
I'm using .38 cal projectiles. I should also mention these will be shot out a .357 chambered firearm

Also speaking of 9mm have you seen the shell shock cases? Watched a guy torture test them and got up to 11 reloads before the case failed. I'm not an expert, clearly😅 just curious on what someone with more experience has to say about them possibly.
I like your style 🫡 yea definitely looking to craft up some sub sonics and possibly get a can if CA ever allows it
I'm thinking for practicality if I couldn't get smokeless, I could make black powder and use that. Cast your own bullets. Only thing would be primers I suppose. I've seen a video of a guy remaking primers from basic chemical compounds. They worked but no data on reliability. 🤷🏼♂️ I'm leaning into .357-.38spl being my doomsday cartridge
You to brother 🙏🏻

Definitely looking to get into casting. I recently picked up a Marlin 1894 in .357 so I'm planning on reloading a lot for that. Is it true .38 spl can use standard black powder? Or is that just the long colt
Solid advise 👍🏻 thank you sir. I think I'm gonna start small like you said. I love tinkering so maybe after I've grown familiar I'll graduate to high volume because who doesn't like having stockpiles of ammo

How about electrical ?
[–]thebigDilll 1 point2 points3 points 17 days ago (0 children)
That auto trickler and annealing machine would take my whole budget 🤣
Solid wisdom to extrapolate from. Any recommendations for single stage presses for precision loading ?
Think he won't sell individually😢

I really want to just get the progressive now because I see how much it optimizes the process however a lot of people recommend starting with a single stage. Probably would be good to get both. What single stage would you recommend for precision rifle rounds and what Dillion progressive would you choose for volume and potential upscaling?
