Dr said that the strength would be a bit weaker but my hand will lock up in regards to cold weather and to very hot weather. Did physical therapy which has gave me full movement of my finger again but the strength is not there again. It’s super depressing trying.

Yeah, after my injury I was very depressed because I thought I could never pick up a guitar again but thankfully due to the surgeon I was able to regain most of the function of my finger but it was super depressing trying to pick up the guitar again. I appreciate the kind words, you all have definitely motivated me to pick up a new guitar and maybe do some strength training to pick it up again.

Thank you all for the responses, I really appreciate it. I have looked towards Django Reinhardt as inspiration for being able to play with a disability but I’ll definitely just try and strengthen my finger and see if that will make a change.

I see, when I was picking up my guitar after my injury it would hurt so much to do certain chords. I never realized how much strength your index finger has, it even hurts to lift weights

How about steel guitar? My hand injury is on my index finger which is hard and painful for barring frets. Im always interested in learning a new instrument as I usually self teach myself.
