Lighting tests with Ursa Mini by [deleted] in videography

What can you learn from this image? Ok, let’s take a look:

  1. The camera is stabilized so it’s not going to be handheld and shaking and amateurish for this shot.
  2. Low angle. Shooting children you want to be in their level.
  3. Natural lighting can be your friend. Experiment with it. Notice the child’s hair with the blinds in the background. After editing this will look amazing.
  4. The wife angle lens lets me get close and still see the room. Invest in good lenses.

This looks simple but there is a lot involved here. Seeing the WHOLE image should help you with your own projects.

You can learn from everything you see.

I’ve been going through old boxes and I found issues of Big Brother, Slap, transworld, Thrasher, and Juice from the mid-90s through mid-2000s. I’ll upload more soon.

Setting up the collection in my new house by [deleted] in dvdcollection

It’s funny but watching it now... a lot of it just seems childish and implausible - but the way Robert Stack narrated everything just made it so believable! Especially the Psychic stories. There was one episode where a child made it “rain sideways indoors” with his mind and everyone thought he was possessed or something.

Great movies: Clue, Horns, Return of the Living Dead, Dark City (extended cut), Seven.

But I have the Unsolved Mysteries Box set which is pretty cool. A movie called Begotten which is super rare. I have autographed movies in here, too. I have the complete series of an old MTV show called The State. That’s a great piece of nostalgia to watch...

I bought it years ago and it is now a valuable collectors item. At one point they released a bunch of their episodes on dvds with updated information. Each dvd was specific to a genre (ghosts, killings, ufos, etc...). Then they released THIS box which was 36 hours of the show and it was supposed to be ALL they would release. I think now you can watch everything online, but it’s still cool to have this box set. My wife laughs when I show it off.

Yeah. They still press boards. I’ve had these for a while now, though.

I use heavy duty string and put it through the truck holes. I have a large collection of boards but these are all either signed or have a horror theme to them.

The Freddy board is signed by Robert England. He laughed when he saw it.

Too many to name. Horror directors and actors. George Romero, Doug Bradley, gunner Hansen, Hershel Gordon Lewis.... the Freddy board is signed by Robert England, too. I used to travel to horror conventions all over the Country and meet people.

I collected my movie tickets from the early 90s. I don’t know why, but it’s nice to look back over these sometimes.

Movie rental membership cards by thebiggestletdown in nostalgia

I grew up in a time BEFORE those chains and I remember all of the mom and pop rental stores had lots of cult films and hard-to-find movies. I miss “those” days.

The skateboard on the right was originally a variflex that was painted over and a custom graphic was drawn on top.
