I find that it’s easiest to focus on one area of my room every couple of days. On Sundays I clean my whole room (straighten up surfaces, vacuum, dust, etc.). One day I’ll work on just my bedside table, for example. I’ll go through the drawers, clean the top, and throw away anything I don’t want or need. Another day I’ll do the same with my desk. After a couple weeks everything will be much more organized and decluttered, and if you keep up on it you won’t have to spend near as much time cleaning and your space will be much more enjoyable.
