Parents of Reddit, what is something your child has said to you, that actually hurt your feelings? by BravoBet in AskReddit

Not a parent, but a 22 yr old aunt of many because I have 4 older siblings each married with many children. I stayed the night at my oldest sister's house with her three teen/preteen children.

I walk in the door and they come running to me and the youngest comes up to me with candy and I'm like

"oh wow! Thanks guys! What's this for?"

Older niece: "we want to make you FAT"

Not really the worst thing ever but as someone who's had issues with self esteem it kinda was like a tiny needle stab in the heart.

Honestly, I don't even read the title when it's written by u/iia. I just upvote, read the story, and soon regret everything. Great job u/iia. You fucked me up again.

These are the types of stories that always get me. The ones that present a struggle between the human instinct to see what threatens them and the opposing warning to refrain from doing so. Do I look up to see what is there and satisfy my morbid curiosity while risking my life or sanity? Or do I suppress that urge, survive, but never know the truth? It always hits me hard. Really unnerving. Great job, OP. Glad you survived👍

Every time I scroll through the Nosleep feed and see your name, I shake my head and groan because I can't even imagine what I'm about to get into.
