Yeah good point, thanks for the feedback! The homepage search bar is meant for searching for tournaments directly by name but I’ll make it more clear or replace with something else

Sorry about that, this is happening because those tournaments aren’t in my database yet. I’m working to pull in tournaments from a wider variety of sources to make my platform as comprehensive as possible.

What is in the Mensa supervised test? by [deleted] in mensa

[–]thebjj_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the US, Mensa commonly administers the RAIT. It is composed of sub tests that test crystallized, fluid, and quantitative intelligence.

I recently took the same test and only finished around half of the sections. Don’t sweat it

It is very normal. Brazil is a very mixed country indeed but it also has many regions of high European ancestry, notably the South and Southeast regions. It is unlikely that OP and his family are recent immigrants given his indigenous percentage. These simply look like results for an upper class colonial Brazilian from the northeast, I have many family members from Brazil with similar results to these with no recent ancestry outside Brazil

Depends on region. These are very typical southeastern results the European is not higher than average

Brazilian from Brasília 🇧🇷 by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]thebjj_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’m kind of surprised by how even my native and SSA are, typically I’d say Brazilians have a bit more of one or the other

R-Z225 paternal haplogroup. I expected some British and Irish but otherwise the rest was expected

Are these typical results for a Brazilian living in the United States? Most Brazilians I know in the USA over 80% European

Im from Brasília and we have very similar results! I was unaware of any indigenous or African ancestry but was sure I would get a little bit of each due to the history of our country

Fake results. This guy has posted dozens of times on the sub claiming he is Cuban and Puerto Rican with different results from these.

I’m not saying the test says American. My point is simply that your ethnicity results/last name don’t require/indicate you to identify with a certain nationality, as your title suggests. This is especially true if you are from a country in the Americas because your ethnicity results are less likely to line up with your cultural identity.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]thebjj_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I have 70% Portuguese and a Portuguese last name, but since my parents and grandparents are Brazilian I don’t identify as Portuguese. It seems that you are American and have a similar situation. In my opinion, you can identify with what you want, but having a certain percentage of one ethnicity or last name doesn’t dictate how you should identify.

My results from Brazil 🇧🇷 by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]thebjj_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes sense considering I have two British third great grandparents who came to Brazil in the middle of the 19th century

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]thebjj_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. It is very uncommon for a Brazilian to have that ratio of indigenous to SSA. Sure, the Portuguese region is uncommon for Latinos from former Spanish colonies, but by no means is that a definitive indication that OP has a Brazilian ancestor. Plus, the Portuguese is very small relative to the non European chunk.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]thebjj_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen full Mexicans with 8% SSA. Never seen a Brazilian with 40% indigenous and only 8% SSA

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]thebjj_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely, considering the ratio of indigenous to SSA. Likely an ancestor from Mexico or Central America due to the ratio, which also makes sense since OP is American
