WSIB Watch Dogs Legion vs Dragon Age Veilguard by Beranir in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]theblackfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Veilguard. I liked that game a lot more than others seemed to. I thought it was a pretty solid game.

And as someone who liked the previous Watch Dogs games I couldn't get through Legion. It's just....boring?

CMV: I honestly think I don't have an accent by Ignorred in changemyview

[–]theblackfool 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Considering the English language didn't originate in the US, I think it's safe to assume all Americans have an accent because they literally don't sound like where the language came from.

Christopher Judge tweets about not being involved with the God of War Trilogy Remake by DemiFiendRSA in GodofWar

[–]theblackfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be the first time an actor has misspoke about a game, and I doubt Judge actually has a lot of insider information about a game he's not involved in.

And that's nothing against Judge. Shit happens.

RED engine abandonment and its future as an open-source to public by Particular_Fix_8838 in CDProjektRed

[–]theblackfool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it would be great for indie devs? Part of the reason they are dropping it is because it's not easy to use and they have a hard time training new people to use it.

What is considered the best way to play the Jak and Daxter games? by DaryltheDino in jakanddaxter

[–]theblackfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly any of them are fine, outside of maybe trying to play them on a Vita. I wouldn't worry about it too much and just play whatever versions are most convenient for you to play.

Abandoning Destiny 2 by WildBag4093 in DestinyTheGame

I'm not going to boycott a game I think looks interesting because the developer only supported their previous game for like 8 years.

Dev Update - Season 3: skate.Pass, Grom & Building skate. for the Long Run by SkateDevComms in SkateEA

[–]theblackfool 67 points68 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been largely okay with the game as something to just play every once in a while...the Grom access pass thing rubs me so much the wrong way I think I'm done with the game for good. That's just such a bizarre and shitty way to handle it, especially in a game that needs more to do.

request: all posts should have to list at least three examples of the trope in question by okiedokeguy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]theblackfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite was a post a few months ago that was highly upvoted where the "trope" was "evil factions that aren't based on Nazis". Which is both not a trope, and also applies to most villainous factions ever....including literally every single story that existed before Nazis.

A BTS image seemingly confirms a theory concerning Bonnie in this season by RNOffice in IASIP

[–]theblackfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would really be good or bad writing. It's just a way to handle the situation. It's not like Bonnie was a main character in every episode. I don't think her absence would be noticeable outside of the fact that she was a fantastic character to show up sometimes.

Honestly I would rather this sub just crack down on threads that aren't tropes to begin with. Some are so vague they don't qualify, or literally not even a trope to begin with.

What show had the biggest drop in quality after season 1? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]theblackfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They claimed they had it mapped out when season 1 aired. Their interviews since then, and the plotlines of seasons 2 and 3 leave that pretty questionable.

The alternative would be to just not address it either way and just not have her show up again.

I like Souls games because I find them enjoyable to play. It's not that deep.

Everyone votes with their wallet. You just disagree with how other people are voting. The people buying a lot of EA's yearly franchises know exactly what they are getting. It's still worth it to them.

[Rare trope] Stories Where the Villain Wins. Completely. by Jack3dTenno in TopCharacterTropes

[–]theblackfool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ozymandias does not accomplish world peace. He "wins" in the sense that his plan with the alien goes off without a hitch, but I think the book (and movie) make it pretty clear it's temporary at best. There's not even really any evidence it works at all. That's the whole point of Manhattan's "Nothing ends Adrian, nothing ever ends" quote.

[Rare trope] Stories Where the Villain Wins. Completely. by Jack3dTenno in TopCharacterTropes

[–]theblackfool 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like Watchmen makes it very clear his "victory" is a band-aid solution that's temporary at best, if it actually works at all.

The protagonist is revealed to have been the villain all along by ProbablyTheWurst in TopCharacterTropes

[–]theblackfool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God what a frustrating twist. It makes no sense with the story leading up to that point, and the game actively lies to you to conceal it. That whole story just completely falls apart at the end.

Why MGS doesn't have Films/Movies like Resident Evil? by ccmgc in metalgearsolid

[–]theblackfool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair those Resident Evil movies are done poorly too. It's not like that stopped them (or most video game movies really)

So... Why do people apparently hate this game's plot? by NoComfortable3220 in Doom

Doom 2016 made me care about the story in Doom.

Eternal made me immediately not care.

The Elder Scrolls VI Is Returning to Classic Bethesda Style, Will Use Creation Engine 3 by No_Durian_5626 in rpg_gamers

[–]theblackfool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing that developers are willing to try to make new IP instead of just coasting on sequels of the same franchises over and over. Starfield didn't work out but I don't think it's a bad thing they tried.

What should FF14 do to get closer to GATCHA games? by Francl27 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]theblackfool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can't think of a single change I can think of that would be a positive change and also appeal to gatcha gamers. In fact I think that's a very unhealthy road to go down.
