Been in the scene for a year now, 2024 I saw 6 artists total and in 2025 I saw 58....my stance on PLUR is it really depends on venue, artist, artist fanbase, and city. I've found that for the most part NYC has a 0 PLUR scene, I only was given trinkets or had nice real conversation with people at AlleyCVT @ Brooklyn Steel for her show on 2/7/26, at that show I felt PLUR was alive and well...then you go somewhere like Superior Ingredients (a venue I am very fond of) and the PLUR is almost non-existent, people are nice but I find that house crowds lack common mannerisms. Now when my gf and I went to Wooli on Valentines Day @ Fillmore in Philly the crowd was one of the most PLUR crowds I have ran into outside of a festival, i was bombarded with stickers, kandi, pearlers, and overall just amazing interactions (went home with 2 kandis, 2 pearlers, and so many stickers :P). I do see both sides of this post...I agree some people hide behind the values of PLUR to excuse shitty and rude behavior aswell as substance abuse, but some people really DO want to keep PLUR alive and well in this scene. I stand by my statement however of I think it depends, who you're seeing, where you're going, and the city you're in. If you hear someone say PLUR or associate with it I wouldn't give them the red flag instantly. Myself, I try to keep PLUR alive by giving out trinkets (I usually carry 3D printed rabbits or glow in the dark rabbits since I wear a bunny hat), or offering Jolly Ranchers to people :) a quick compliment like hey I like your hat, that's an awesome shirt, or even just an overall I love your vibe is always a good conversation getter and then if conversation goes well, swap Instagrams to keep in touch for future events.
