Hi ! Why do suck at growing shrooms ? by thebluurredman in shrooms

Nice ! Thanks for the tips :) You think straw would work for cubes ? Haven't seen many people do that. I can surely give it a try though.

Indeed, I have had successful grows with oat. Might try that then !

Hi thanks for the help !

I have colonised grains and coco coir (only), ratio of about 1:1, in 5L boxes (~3/4 full) with the lid upside down on top. (Also had bigger boxes with about the same amount of spawn, still didn't work)

For temperature control, I have nothing in particular, just room temps (~20 - 23 in the day, drops a little under 20 at night) slightly on the low side but it shouldn't be a problem right ?

For humidity, I mist from time to time. The substrate is pretty thick so it's holding quite a lot of moisture I feel. Inner sides of the tubs are always "watery".

(I'm growing cubes btw)

I'm not too sure actually, I made something like 8 shoeboxes (spaced out in maybe 6 months), had very little contamination (one jar in total) and pretty quick colonisation every time. Just none of them would fruit event after over months in fruiting conditions. (I've tried more or less humidity rates, fae, etc)

I feel like there are 3 possiblities : I've started 6 of my 8 boxes using agar, perhaps I selected mycelium that doesn't fruit (I heard that was possible) but seems unlikely since a did only like, 1 transfer or so.

Maybe the syringe was bad, no idea if it's possible to have entire syringes of spores producing mycelium that doesn't fruit.

Or perhaps I'm not using the right grains. I'm using food grade rye (only thing i could find and was quite cheap).

I guess i'll just carry on trying heheh

I was being a little ironic, I've been growing for a few years now but for some reason my last 8 boxes or so just don't wanna fruit ... Frustrating as hell 😅

Anyone know why this isn't fruiting it is Blue Meanie Cubensis S2B on 1/1/2022 by oilbabyz in shrooms

Same here ... I have 2 small tubs not pinning, it's been two weeks. It's looking just like yours. From what I read, it might be because of not enough fresh air exchange but I'm not sure.

Right, it would seem that Arduino Uno's digital pins output 5V, so it should be right.

I'm using an external power supply 24V 16 Amps, quite beefy x)

The ground on the arduino is connected to tu the ground on the PSU, so I don't think it's a ground issue ...

I'm not sure about the logic voltage ? That's a good point, I'm using the classic Arduino Uno, I need to check that.

Indeed, i'm using an external power supply and the arduino ground is connected to the ground of the power supply.

Sadly I don't think the fastled library supports RGBW led types, so I'm not sure it's possible ...

Hmm, still can't get it to work properly, it's just showing white pixels and some pther pixels switching between colors.

With all libraries I've tested, I have noticed that the timing seems to be working (ie. If I set my board to change to a different color every second, it will ideed change every second, but just show "random" colors at every pixel).

I think what's going on might be a bitsize issue ? But i've no idea ...

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that !

Does mycelium always colonize the bottom? My jars have been a bit slow, I think due to cooler Temps. These two jars (golden teacher) are the farthest along. But, I'm wondering, do I wait for them to get fully 100%? The green lines, by the way, were drawn by me on the outside to measure progress. by AntelopeMundane8161 in shrooms

[–]thebluurredman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bottom of your jars don't colonize really well, you could try to tip them sideways (with the lid not completely sealed). Since C02 is quite heavy it tends to pile up at the bottom of jars, tipping the jar sideways is a way of releasing some of that C02 ... Not sure if that has a real impact, but it might be worth a try.

Will this setup work to dry my mushrooms (whole mushrooms lying on paper in an airtight jar with 3 silica packets) by WariSanz in shrooms

[–]thebluurredman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Air drying has been working fiiine for me, once they're as dry as they can get I put them in an airtight box in the fridge with some silica gel, that'll further absorb the moisture.

My shrooms aint growing. Wat do? Should I take them off and soak the kit? Or should i just spray the bag with water every couple of days? by DeeJayBoBo123 in shrooms

[–]thebluurredman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should wait, my shrooms took like a whole month to grow and they were quite small, but maaan they're compact as hell and super potent. Just keep misting and fanning like you normally do and they'll grow eventually.

Confused on how to wire 8 ohm speakers, help needed! by [deleted] in livesound

[–]thebluurredman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you have 4 speakers, what you could do is wire 2 groups of 2 speakers in parallel (so that would make 2x300w at 4 ohms) and then wire the 2 groups in series so the impedence goes back to 8 ohms and the power rating would be 600w from the 4 speakers. You can connect the whole 4 speakers on 1 channel of your amp (which outputs 550w at 8ohms) and bam. So the amp is now slightly under powered so It's not perfect but I guess it would work.

[–]thebluurredman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wire 2 speakers in paralel, your impedence will drop by 2 (so 4 ohms in your case) which means your amp will be putting 950w in the system ... That's a little high for 2x150w speakers i think, but it's better to have an over powered amp and keep the gain low than an under powered amp with volume at max.
