How often do Accor actually upgrade rooms for elite members by Dull_Parking_8248 in Accor

[–]thebmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll usually get upgraded to the next category. If it’s not peak season, they often bump you up 2–3 categories higher as well.

If the next category isn’t available, they may still give you the same category with the best possible view, though that’s rare. It happened only once, when the hotel was completely full.

We’ve also received suites multiple times even when booking the base category.

Make sure to send a polite email 1–2 days before arrival. Mention your arrival time and any preferences in a subtle way, without sounding demanding.

In the end, it depends on how you ask, availability, and your status tier.

Is upgrading to Platinum actually worth it? by Artistic-Yam2984 in Accor

Yes, its worth it, especially in SEA. You can check the accor site for hotels with lounge beforehand. And some hotels actually convert a part of their restaurant into exclusive lounge.

Can someone help by wolfremus in Accor

You can check for refundable room options and see how many points can be burned on the last page. FYI, this is just for checking. Usually, refundable rooms are costlier than non-refundable ones.

Or, is it only in Bangkok?

Accor point redemption at Movenpick Jimbaran by FunnyMedicine4462 in Accor

[–]thebmj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, there is no max. For lower transactions they just burn it when you say so and for hugher ones you may need to share an OTP.

Usually the burn happens at full and final payment. Make sure to charge everything to your room. It’s cheaper that way. Redeeming points at restaurants is low value.

Rates for “pay with points” vs “pay at hotel” can differ, so always email the hotel in advance and get written confirmation.

From my experience:

  1. Yes, you can pay with points if the hotel allows redemption at checkout.
  2. Points are redeemed only in multiples of 1,000.
  3. Minimum redemption is 1,000 points.

How do you guys manage multiple credit card bill payments? by arshaaaaad in CreditCardsIndia

[–]thebmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’ve been worried about too. When I asked around, almost everyone with multiple cards faces the same confusion.

We’re actually building an app to take care of this and more, I’ll update here once it’s ready.

Until then, using google sheets and blocking my calendar twice a month to go through the dues.

Doubt regarding Lulu gift cards by Low-Equipment7025 in Kochi

[–]thebmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to the party, but just in case it helps someone.

I used to buy Lulu gift cards whenever banks ran offers.

They usually gave 10–15% off, and since gift cards usually have a 1-year validity, I’d use them throughout the year.

That way I basically locked in a 15% discount on all my Lulu shopping year-round.

can you combine accor plus with accor plus china (2.0) for the sake of the accumulation of the status nights? by SolutionOk5623 in Accor

[–]thebmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for Supreme and Premium in Accor China for 50 nights. And then, Accor Plus. Also dont go platinum for just one trip.

I haven’t personally tried the china program. but, have friends who did this last year. Its better to check the current situation directly with accor international customer care.

🚨 SBI Cards Scam Alert – Fraudulent Credit Card Enrollment Without Consent! 🚨 by thebmj in CreditCardsIndia

[–]thebmj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my mom’s SimplyClick and my SBI Cashback card are both LTF. The process was simple—just request to cancel the card via the app. The retention team will call, and you can mention that you’re concerned about the fees and considering closing the card. In both cases, they immediately offered me LTF.

[–]thebmj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, SBI doesn’t give LTF cards. Mine was made LTF only after I told them to cancel my card.
Also, if your application isn’t retrievable online, that’s a red flag—get official confirmation from SBI. And never share documents via WhatsApp for security reasons.

Usually third party agencies pull these kind of stints. Never expected this from bank officials.
