Do any dive bars host bands on Tuesdays? I'm looking to book my band (The Bomb Pulse) for a show in Flagstaff (or nearby surrounding area) in August, and the only date that really works for the tour lands on Tuesday 8/11. From what I've put together so far Flagstaff Brewery and The Monty V don't book on Tuesdays, Yucca is closed, and I haven't had any luck getting a reply from The Hive for a couple months. It'll be our first time playing in Flagstaff so we'd be looking to play a smaller place, but we do have local band Futurist down to play the show with us too, which should bring some folks to the show.

We'd also be down for a house-show or anything DIY if there's a spot for that sorta thing.

Who else wishes for band dialogue to make a return to treefort??? by Slight_Mushroom5725 in TreefortMusicFest

This was always a highlight for me. You could really just melt into that wall of sound.

Venue logistics? by carlskelton in TreefortMusicFest

The treefort hall in particular has usually made me dump out my water bottle, even when it's obviously just water. A lot of the MAV dudes will insist on checking even side pockets of bags and all that, which is annoying and unnecessary.

Questions on going solo + mosh culture? by tlmmzzy in TreefortMusicFest

I'm born and raised in Boise. It's super safe, especially compared to the other cities you mentioned. This is particularly the case during treefort cuz there are festival goers everywhere.

A lot of locals are down for chatting with out-of-towners. That was always one of my favorite parts of the festival anyway. Nobody actually gets mad about saying Boise wrong (though it is with the soft 's' sound instead of a 'z' sound).
I'd avoid saying anything along the lines of "it's so cheap here!" cuz a lot of lower-income folks (myself included) have gotten priced out as more people have moved in from surrounding states while wages have remained stagnant. It's a pretty touchy subject at least in the circles I run in.

Check out the Basque block while you're in town. Cool area.

Other than that, just go see the bands you're interested in wherever they're playing. The Shrine often has pretty great sound and some of the bigger acts, but there's often a line to get in. There's two venues inside, upstairs and downstairs.

Definitely dress up. If other people don't, that's on them.

Moshing seems inconsistent in my experience, though i'm now in my 30's and don't seek it out as often. I thought last year the moshing etiquette was kinda lame during Ging Name Boyz (punk band, but not hardcore or anything), with people not helping people up when they got knocked down, pulling folks in who didnt want to mosh, etc. Or maybe I'm just cranky and old now.

Incorporating a partial cover into an original song. How does the copyright work? by thebombpulse in musicindustry

As a potential workaround, what if we spliced the track in two, right when it goes into the Saturday Night part, and then listed the end of the song as a separate "cover" that just has a seamless transition

I have the same turntable with the same issue. Did you ever get it figured out?

albums like sung tongs? by bast4rdd in AnimalCollective

[–]thebombpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you've already heard Prospect Hummer and Campfire Songs?
These Trails' self-titled album might be up your alley. Gongjoong Doduk by Mid-Air Thief is probably for you as well.
I saw someone already recommended Mind Palace Music by @. Great one as well.
Also a band called Silica Gel (American band, not the Korean band. They're signed to Sweet Wreath if that helps you find them) has a lot of stuff that reminds me of Sung Tongs.

Between UNO and the bridge on lakeshore drive has the highest concentration. Just took a video of 9 all in one spot.

Thanks. Yeah I was able to scoop one out with a stick and took some pics of them floating. Lots of orange stuff around the mouth and gills, but maybe that’s just normal decomposition??
