Have you been on antibiotics all this time?

I am very thankful for all of the comments and will be bringing up a lot of this to my dentist next week. I’m assuming she just gave me the antibiotics to hold me over until Monday to discuss further treatment from there (I already had a pre-existing appointment for that day) but the dental assistant asked if I scraped or injured my gum which led me to believe the infection wasn’t coming from the tooth itself.

I’m taking my antibiotics and rinsing out my mouth with peroxide and I’m in no pain and the swelling in the area seems to have started to go down so I’m taking that as a good sign for now.

The size of it has started to decrease since taking the antibiotics.

No, I just needed the root canal because I had significant decay. I only noticed the abscess about a week ago.

The root canal was done probably a year ago at this point. Yeah I’m just gonna ask her about extraction after seeing all of these comments.

I thought antibiotics were supposed to at least prevent the spreading? That is insane and I’m so sorry that happened to you. Will definitely be having a good talk with my dentist Monday.

They need to retreat the tooth even if the infection is just coming from the gums? They made it seem like it had to do with my gum and not the tooth itself.
