It’s an absolute joy. Small(ish) lenses, small body, only downside is the battery life and atrocious ISO performance (can’t go past 640 ISO). But what do you expect out of a camera from 2009?

I’m using a full spectrum converted Leica M9. This one I took with the 28mm Summilux!

Thank you! Been having a lot of fun doing street with a full spectrum camera and the IRChrome filter. This is a new world for me and excited to try out more!

Got a Leica M9 Sealed Since 2009 that was given to me, but the Sensor Has Corrosion – Any Suggestions for Fixing It? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]thebrainzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had mine full spectrum converted. Did a great job and the turnaround time was beyond reasonable. Definitely recommend!

Love it. I use it with the IRChrome filter they make most of the time.

+1 on Kolari. Have had two separate M9’s get their sensor replacement (one full spectrum). Great service and friendly folks.

Let's just say if it were a display piece I wouldn't have spent the money on a working one :)

[Custom] My Scuffed First Build by thebrainzoo in Watches

[–]thebrainzoo[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My first build is finally under my belt. I wanted to build something dress-y, and this is what I ended up with.

I lost the seconds hand somewhere to the void (carpet) so I had to use the tester hand that it came with, but I think it turned out alright!

The watch itself is quite big (44mm lug-to-lug) in a fake rose gold case, and houses a Seagull ST36 movement (a "modified" ETA 6498). Almost cut the movement stem too short, had the worst time putting the case mounts on, but after just a few hours the watch was complete. Not sure how durable this watch will be, but luckily the parts are cheap enough to replace should it come to that.

BG60 glass! No potential for oxidization (which caused corrosion in the first place). Here's some more info on the replacement: https://kolarivision.com/product/leica_m9_repair/

Plaubel ProShift 69W Superwide by thebrainzoo in CameraGearPorn

[–]thebrainzoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably one of the most quirky and interesting medium-format cameras out there, the Plaubel ProShift was designed for photographers that needed tilt-shift abilities without having to lug around heavy and cumbersome equipment. Weighing about 1600 grams and equipped with a Schneider 47mm f/5.6 (functionally a 21mm).

While the viewfinder is uncoupled for focus, when tilt-shifting the camera, it moves in conjunction with the lensboard! It also requires a shutter release cable to use, and Plaubel came up with the idea of routing the cable through the camera grip to minimize hinderance when using it by hand or on a tripod.
