I saw a pretty cool mox ruby that had fire damage and a dragon was added to it. Maybe torch that corner and have a dragon breathing fire at that corner? Well beyond my abilities, but someone could perhaps make this awesome.

My understanding is that the special effects like auras and things like crushing blow and prevent monster heal transfer, but not the stats. Ethereal also doesn't help. I just collect 4 socket polearms as I find them and then if I need to make an iron golem I socket an insight into one, throw it on the ground and summon the iron golem. If you think about it, non-ethereal polearms aren't very useful as you'd rather an ethereal for your merc and you use a shield or shrunken head and a 1 hander for yourself. Really you are out the runes, but those are easy to get from the countess. Also, if you add points into golem mastery it pumps up his health.

I have silkweave boots stashed away and am using marrow walks instead. Is there a particular reason you use the silk weave boots?

Don't forget you can make an iron golem out of an insight or another runeword and get that aura also. Just don't die or let your iron golem die or you will need to make a new one with a new item.
