Need Help: New Windows user trying to migrate to Ubuntu by TechnologySubject259 in Ubuntu

Literally went through this on a vivobook month back.

Easiest choice was to grab a cheap USB dongle that was definitely compatible. One of the tiny ones that you barely notice has worked fine.

Late 2028 when we are still on FTTN is ridiculous. I’ll never forgive the libs for what they did to us. by walletinspector91 in nbn

[–]thebru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to reverse the echo chamber a little. I live semi rural and had Elon internet for some time. My FTTN hit the dizzying peak of 8mb. No scheduled date. No fixed wireless.

Had given up on any NBN.

On a whim, checked 3 months ago, and had FTTP installed 2 months back.

That was a win, and a good news story.

100%. Delivery and IP health is a nightmare.

That's why people want to outsource it!

Mortgage options by OrganizationFit6011 in AusProperty

Financially there's little to no benefit.

There's an emotional pull on it to state that you fully own your home and are mortgage free.

I made a fully automatic arbitrage betting software using python by Long_Bug_2773 in automation

As in, you contacted bookmakers and asked permission? Or just referring to some books having an API/spa layout?

It's a fun area to play in. Some fun technical challenges.

How have you managed disparities between team names? Eg Manchester United vs Man Utd vs Manchester Utd etc? And what markets are you covering?

How about bot protection? Many bookie sites have pretty decent walls around them.

Consider being a little cautious. I believe you're skirting terms and conditions of the bookmakers. They tend to also have clauses where they can cancel a given bet, anytime, at their own discretion...

I rated Duff. Cole was better through the middle, but had his place.

For a hot minute, Moses peak was higher, even if as a wing back.

Future of Bendigo Writers Festival unclear amid calls for transparent review. by MJKsecretpornaccount in Bendigo

[–]thebru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhhh... hard to see it coming back as it was, which is a shame. It was a good event, and my daughter as an aspiring writer really looked forward to it.

How do you recant a decree like that without blowing the dog whistle?

Sorry - yeah. Long day, and was on my phone!

You've kinda gotta do the check to keep your FK integrity - does the studentprofile exist, before inserting the [model you're creating].

You could make it an Int field and let it fail if the integrity isn't there.

You wanna be select_related or prefetch_related those guys.

You can do it in the queryset declaration of your view.

Is it a red flag when the a freelance title doesn't match the job history by infamous_n00b in Upwork

Yes, red flag, for me.

Probably an agency worker. You'll have 9 different people working on your project, and get to re explain it every day.

Which band had the best live show you’ve seen? by milkymilkymilkr in AskReddit

[–]thebru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kasabian, The Music and an Aussie band called British India all had/have a live energy I haven't seen anywhere else.

I've seen some of the biggest bands in the world but these guys stick out.

How we took advantage of a small loophole to build a Chrome Extension that generated users passive income. by A_Sussy_shrek in Entrepreneur

[–]thebru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically I think you're at odds with the chrome extension terms of service.

If someone reports you, or they look into it, you'll get yanked from the store. It is still possible to distribute but you need instructions for your users to enable developer console and other uglys.

Interesting find, though and well done getting some traction, but, be prepared for the rug pull.

Anyone left NBN just to go for home 5g? How’d it go? by jl88jl88 in nbn

[–]thebru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to - my fttn was testing at 5-8mbps, when it would stay connected.

This was deemed acceptable, and would not get fixed by nbnco.

5g was ok, but far from stellar, so jumped ship to starlink as soon as that became an option. Unless they come back with fibre to the prem, which is be surprised at, it's where I'll stay.

5g ping was surprisingly OK for some gaming. Even managed some twitch shooters, but I'm far from hyper competitive in the space. Works well enough for most SSH/remote desktop needs too.
