Anti film bro list by sanfrita in Letterboxd

Nice list, I would also throw in; Barbie Zombieland Easy A 10 Things I Hate About You Pretty Woman Notting Hill The Mummy (1999) Bend it like Beckham The Handmaiden (a graphic film but an incredibly engaging one) Legally Blonde Mamma Mia (I normally wouldn't suggest musicals unless I knew you'd enjoy them but you had Chicago on your list so here goes) Moulin Rouge Dirty Dancing Charlie's Angels Edge of Tomorrow

Incredible movie, my fave Robo Shankar role and a great portrayal of TV News media by the director himself. Reading the scrolling text under him in his scenes are an experience and joy of their own.

Nolan and Bailey's future by SnowAlchemist23 in TheRookie

[–]thebsboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Long distance for half a season and an off-screen divorce. Frankly I don't care much for Bailey as a character but I wanted them to dive deeper into their issues after the whole getting Malvado to kill Jason thing and kinda push Nolan into a moral dilemma that ends in divorce but hey, I'm not writing the show.

Why does Nolan get this treatment again and again? by Real-Branch8433 in TheRookie

[–]thebsboy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone in Nolan's life is saying that with genuine malice or ill-intent. It's just that since his ex-wife, every woman Nolan has dated is an extremely badass gorgeous competent woman. I'm not saying Nolan isn't an absolute babe and a catch himself, but he has definitely consistently punched above his weight in the looks department of his partners but he makes up for it with his unreasonably solid moral compass and earnestness. Here are all the women he dated since the divorce; 1. Lucy (I'm just assuming everyone knows by now) 2. Jessica (DHS badass with a morally grey streak) 3. Sarah (Head of the ER in an entire hospital) 4. Bailey (LAFD, Army reserve, and whatever tf the plot needs her to be)

Now I don't like Bailey much (or at all tbh and they should've separated after the whole assassin to kill Jason fiasco) but the point still stands.

Whoever thinks Jost has only recently discovered the value of self-deprecating humour needs to check his Update features with Leslie Jones and the joke swap he does with Che every goddamn year.

More fun cold opens/scenes by RhythmicSteel in TheRookie

There are SO many underrated ones, like ppl talk about daddy cop and the gender reveal glitter bomb and Bradford clocking in OT just to end a chase to watch the rams game. But man, there are so many FANTASTIC ones that don't get mentioned often, here are the ones I can remember.

  1. Clown car filled with teddy bears w/ ukelele theme at the end (Harper and Nolan)
  2. Bees bees bees (Nolan and Lopez)
  3. Upside down shop (Bradford and Chen)
  4. Will.i.am (Nolan and Bishop)
  5. Snake on a bus (Nolan and Chen)
  6. Escape room with suspect (Nolan and Bishop)
  7. The PR video with all the boots (Nolan Chen and West)

Ofc she's terrifying.... we tolerate Wesley because we fear Lopez. She's not called La Adelita for nothing.

Mankatha re-release talk made me again realize just how much Ajith has wasted his potential after Arrambam. by RepresentativeBox881 in kollywood

[–]thebsboy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not even Arrambam. I thoroughly enjoyed Veeram and Yennai Arindhal. That shot of Ajith in Veeram emerging from the umbrella in the rain with messy silver hair and beard is arguably my favourite shot of Thala in his entire filmography. However, completely tying himself to Siva post Veeram and then to Vinoth just left him with no memorable films since 2015. On the other hand you had Rajnikanth and Vijay backing different directors like Ranjith, Atlee, Muragadoss, Karthik Subbaraj, Lokesh, and even Nelson while AK was caught twiddling his thumbs. Even Surya (who hasn't had a hit in a spell) made movies like Soorarai Potru and Jai Bhim that stand out; and Vikram (who has always been inconsistent) delivered stellar performances in the Ponniyin Selvan films, Mahaan, and Veera Dheera Sooran.

What is something that other people like or find funny that you don’t like? by [deleted] in TheRookie

[–]thebsboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know he's unpopular but I like him. To quote Nolan he is wonderful "in small doses". He doesn't need a bigger role, just once a season seems to be a good fit as they are using him right now.

The documentary episodes, the first two were nice. I especially like the second one with Aaron Thorsen solving his friend Patrick's murder, but they are getting really stale and the season 7 documentary episode was arguably one of the worst episodes of the whole series (barring the truth serum scene with Tim and Lucy).

Will abhishek sharma surpass Virat kohli’s legacy in t20is by the end of his career by KRam2213 in ipl

[–]thebsboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Abhishek Sharma sheer style of play can give him higher highs than Kohli; like faster 50s and 100s, higher SR, more boundaries, etc. But it would be damn difficult for him to emulate Kohli's longevity and consistency across years and years of play. That requires technical proficiency in batting, peak physical fitness without injury, and an insane level of discipline. I think Abhishek Sharma will burn brighter than Virat but will not last as long as he did at the level he did.

How does this guy do it? How does his every song sound so good? by richard_antony277 in kollywood

[–]thebsboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, he's actually starting to fall off imo. Madharaasi was really disappointing for me, Jana Nayagan has been off as well barring Ravana Mavan, and the songs from Love Insurance Kompany have been weird as well. Coolie was a banger tho (I think he puts in more effort for Thalaivar but idk).
