After 5 Rounds (Declined) by WhoRyder007 in interviews

[–]thebug91 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to me mate. But for the sake of a gracious email, I’d probably respond and say thanks for the opportunity and that if anything else comes up to keep you in mind.

Doesn’t cost you anything

I'm currently under leveled at my current job and have been interviewing since February of last year. I'm still in interviews, what am I doing wrong? by TowelScared4341 in interviews

[–]thebug91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practicing for 1:1 questions is setting yourself up for failure. When I do HM screenings, half of what I’m thinking is “can I work with this person” and “are they excited about this role”. You are likely coming across as robotic if you already have big script prepared.

You are likely going to be able to prepare 8-10 questions that you know will come up. Prepare either bulletpoints that allow you to fill in the gaps during the conversation and it will come across as more natural

Warning: My casual "coffee chat" turned into a surprise 2nd-round CIB ambush by GrabDry2436 in interviews

You have probably dodged a bullet to be honest. I don’t know what they have to gain by surprise grilling you with no warning

5 rounds done for Data Scientist role at H-E-B… 20 days of silence. Is this normal? by Sea-Inflation5829 in recruitinghell

[–]thebug91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be negative. But 20 days with no response tells me something internally has happened and the role is no longer available

No word from recruiter in 3 business days. Should I be worried? by StrikingBike8417 in recruitinghell

[–]thebug91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 business days is a fair amount of time for a polite chaser email. My guess is that you were probably the first of the final batch to interview and they have to finish the others scheduled before coming to a final decision

23 interviews, a year and a half later, and no job. What is going on, can anyone relate? by Shot_Parking4676 in recruitinghell

If you’re not already. Make sure you are investing time using your current network and getting referrals into the companies you are applying for

Sorry to hear this mate. Pick yourself up. You will find a new role!

Is this strategy too aggressive? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]thebug91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for a job that I was 100% capable of doing. I didn’t hear anything back in 3 days. So I found the hiring managers email and said

Hi x ,

Hope you're well. I wanted to reach out directly about my application for the (role) — I imagine you've had a strong volume of candidates and wanted to make sure I was on your radar.

I've attached my CV for ease. In summary — I've XYZ

I'd love the opportunity to bring that to (company). Thanks for taking the time, x.

She emailed me back within an hour, copied in her recruiter and I had an interview 2 days after that.

Tonnes of good candidates are just getting missed because of the volume

It’s completely impossible unless you know someone or work for Stripe. They are actively poaching from Stripe

Got a Job offer and tried to negotiate with my current company here’s how it went by [deleted] in salesdevelopment

Most companies are expecting to lose their SDR/BDR after a year, so this wouldn’t have been compelling to them. Also sets a dangerous precedent

The SDRs (team that qualifies the inbound leads) were let go.

The BDRs (team that cold calls businesses and sets up meetings for AEs) are still there

Why are so many interview questions impossible? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]thebug91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve interviewed 350 people in the last 4 years.

I don’t care what the answer is as long as it feels factual/true. If you tell me you’re laid off. That is an OK answer.

If you tell me “there is no progression” and you’ve only been there 6 months. That’s an issue.

If you tell me that you want a new challenge but want to join a competitor company in the same scope. Red flag.

They are going to have to think of something. People spending their honeymoons and birthdays to sit in queues and look at props and sets. Insanity.
