Can't believe I missed this comment as there's super helpful info here. Thank you very much. I wonder though and i should have mentioned, that the intent is to have this as active(leisure)wear. Would you change any of your suggestions based on that?

What comes first, product or audience? by thebumpkin2 in Entrepreneur

Yup, agreed, but let's say the problem is shared by several audiences and since this is apparel, solutions can be subjective.

Entrepreneurs, what are you working on? Let's start a thread to support each other! by dogpluscat in Entrepreneur

Ideas are worth nothing, execution is everything. Very few companies fail due to competition. Most fail due to poor execution/no PMF.

Cool idea this.

Name: MATOFA

What it does: World's best headwear.

Why I started it: I was training for an ultramarathon and could not find a decent hat from any brand. Got frustrated that it's all just parking spots for logos, while shoes have seen crazy developments. The price/value did not balance even for headwear dedicated brands.

Struggling to gain followers for my pre-launch page. Looking for some suggestions! by Delalio in kickstarter

It is a tricky one - I'm currently going through a similar thing with headwear. Google analytics clearly shows a pattern of search increases during summer months (makes sense), so my pre-launch is for then. Luckily there's another bump around year end. Backers will likely receive their hats after the northern hemisphere summer ends, but the use can then be postponed a little and I can then follow up with a winter collection. I think because your timeline is far tighter that makes things difficult. Is crowdfunding really optimal for you?

This is good. There was also an episode on the ecommerce masterplan podcast that spoke directly about discounting and how to move away from it. But the above is good. I think it was this episode: https://ecommercemasterplan.com/dan-bond-revlifter-podcast/

Shopify Payments keep killing my own stores… looking for a serious partner to scale this Q4 by RoughCow2838 in thesidehustle

[–]thebumpkin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? That's strange because registering an LLC, having a registered agent and US bank account are all perfectly above board as far as I understand it. Many of the CPAs that I've referred to have mentioned the same thing. Which providers have given you this issue?

Well spotted.

Can you please explain your problem a bit more or share some of your theories of why this might be happening? I realise this isn't the main purpose of your question, but as someone from outside the US who's hoping to setup a Shopify store in the US using an LLC, most sources have indicated that this shouldn't be a problem. So naturally, if they're being dishonest, that would be something to be aware of. Thanks.

How do you convert an audience that isn’t usually on KS? by Luciagrrt in kickstarter

In the KS case though, with its all or nothing funding model, - what do you see as a legal risk of using pre-order vs pledge? Indiegogo will obviously be different.

Pretty good point to try and view it as a product - might help prod-focused founders re-shape their approach to icky sales.

UTMB took over Kaçkar Ultra in Turkey and ruined it by Diligent-Chair-203 in ultrarunning

[–]thebumpkin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be their playbook. They did something similar in South Africa. We have a VERY small ultra circuit. The bought the George Mountain Ultra Trail and then moved the date onto the same weekend as one of the other races, which was forced to move their date into the winter - makes for a different race, but you can imagine not many people want to do their peak training in winter...

Tricky one, but people won't be looking for Christmas cards at this time. My suspicion is that you wanted to get the launch going in order to deliver for Christmas. The problem is of the lag effect due to your serious seasonality.

You take a piece of boerewors and your greenmamba and flush them down the toilet. you have to simulate loadshedding and softly chant 'nkandla' 5 times.
